It is possible to get at bot of the connecters with out taking the wheel and wheel arech liner off. Here is a pic looking from outside the car's left hand side looking inwards through the left rear wheel arch, where the left rear wheel usually sits. You can see the yellow Bilstein damper at the bottom of the pic, and the two connectors in the middle, one blue one black. Just behind the blue connector you can just barely see the cooling fluid bottle.
I just did it.
You need to unclip the expansion tank. One clip. You can leave everything connected , and just move it out of the way (well it gives about an extra inch of space.)
once out of the way. There are two clips which hold the connectors onto the back of the bracket that holds th expansion tank. Squeeze together and push away from the braket.
The bracket can now be removed 2x 14 mm bolts. (no nuts to fall out either)
Ease the bracket down into the engine bay.
You can now get at both the blue and the black connectors.
Refitting
Note: when refitting clip the connecters back onto the expansion tank bracket before re-attaching.
Do up both bolts, Careful not to drop them. I put a bit of loc-tite on mine too.
And then clip the tank back on.
I checked both of mine and they looked very clean.
Will move onto the pedal sensor next.
Funnily enough the light came on 5 days after a service at vauxhall.....
Any thoughts??
Cheers

The loom that goes from the pedal to the ECU is split in two halves, one half going from pedal to the expansion tank, the second half going from the expansion tank to the ECU, - hence an extra connector sitting on the back of the expansion tank connecting the two halves together. I noticed it requires quite some force to make an audible click when connecting again after taking it apart. Since I did this about a month ago the problem has not showed up again (yet?).Will try to get a replacement of the connectors at the Opel-shop.
What connectors can be changed?
Male and female at pedal?
Male and female at ECU?
Edit: Had a look at SlimVince's pictures. Is there a conector at the coolant reservoir also?
In my case both the ECU and the pedal have been replaced meaning that the only remaining parts to replace are the cables. My Speedster has just been garaged awaiting next spring
