True the valves and springs aren't needed but my last one was revving to 7200 and too be honest it's a security thing you spend all the money on the bottom end you wouldnt want to damage it with standard parts! Feel free to go for it though  Mmm 2" primaries shame I covered them up :( If I was you and making an exhaust I would buy a piper manifold as it has a 3" exit bore then make a downpipe and backbox thumbsup Defo do the balance delete Also I would change the clutch and flywheel the clutch I doubt can handle it... But again it's one of those things it might... But the engine is out etc etc chinky chinky

Don't forget all the suspension and other upgrades you will need with 300bhp those corners become oh so tight ;)

Has anyone fitted a new standard clutch on a SC car and found it to slip? i dont mean an old original one a new one that could not cope with the extra power, im just not wanting to change the feel of the car to much, bitting point of the cluch etc. Can anyone say from experiance? I am having a goaning noise from the cluch from cold and have had a burning smell after a trafic light grand prix. so it on my list to change, but i know the cast of the uprated ones! Does deleting the balancer shafts and fitting a lightened flywheel gain that many more horses? FLD has offered to do it for me as he did or has seen it done on his, and its near a free mod as i understand, but still need more convincing before i disturb the engine internals that much. Is the flywheel dual mass? might change it to lightened if that is the case, from experiance they are S**t. Ive got turbo suspension fitted so its already firmer than standard suspension and have mintex 1144 pads fitted. I know there is far better suspension packages around and better pads/discs, but they can be changed at a later date if i feel the car needs it. People might think im :beat: crazy doing it this way round but the car will only go as fast as you allow it to. thumbsup Can see the gain from fitting the valve springs and lightly porting the head but larger valves? im not sure. Joe or anyone else have you fitted larger valves with the bigger BHP cars? how much are the sodium filled saab valves?

All 300bhp vxs apart from techies have large valves and duel springs The uprated Cms clutch is very similar to the standard clutch in terms of feel just can handle the uped torque :) The flywheel isnt duel mass The balance delete will make it vibrate more on idle as the blower cams do and poly bushes butiabt unbearable unless you have a rattle

All stage 2 pretty much will as it's not viable taking the engine out to do the balance delete! Jimmy has deleted them tho Majority run the fm racing valves 0.5nm bigger

Don't forget the mapping also. There is a standardish map for 250 brake but will need re-doing for 300.

The mapping is exactly the same as remapping a stage 2

I'm running standard clutch on Stage 2 with no problems at all, will let you know if it handles Stage 3 in a few weeks, however I can't see there being an issue. Torque kills clutches, not bhp.

hi mine is a standard clutch the original of unknown mileage , all ok so far  . An uprated clutch i looked into only rated to about 270bhp so i didnt think the risk of cost and driveability was worth bothering with at this stage. I drive alot of cars with competition clutch's believe me the novelty soon wears off in traffic.

Maybe a Saab head is worth considering? Mine is stage 2, happy with it for now. The flywheel just means the car has less weight to lug, it won't change bhp figures but it will change the feel of the engine. Ttv did mine Rads, cams, fuel pump can all be bought from cliffie.

These are just rough prices inc shipping and vat just to make a start, will be shoppping around a bit more yet, any pointers of things ill need or have missed or even links etc very welcome ! :D

Pistons and rods £645.00 My link

Pulley system £70.00 My link

VXR Injectors (listing ended just an example) £80-100 My link

Cams £410.00 My link

Valve springs £363.00 My link

Rebore £100-120

The pulley system you list, is the main purpose of this to allow a quicker pulley swap over with the SC in place as and when you upgrade?

Might want to check with Joe about using a different hose if possible. The pipe on mine was hitting the SC pulley which cut it open. Fix is to cable tie it to the fuel lines which isn't ideal.
