Stage 1 Supercharger conversion. I have had my car nearly eight years now and done the odd little job here and there but overall it is pretty standard, when SEB F ran another SC group buy I felt the time was right for a project to get stuck into. I had been in two minds if the SC was something I was confident to DIY or take the very tempting route of handing it over to Joe and Lee. Well I am now going to give it a go and report my progress here. I am currently in the process of gathering the parts required on top of the SC, manifold, throttle body from the group buy. My plan is to do a stage 1 conversion, of which there do not seem to be too many around and buy most of the extra parts from CMS. I am pretty sure the power from a stage 1 will be enough for me after all I have managed with 150BHP for eight years, maybe a future project will involve better cooling etc. if I find it is needed. Hopefully I will end up with between 200-220 BHP enough to comfortably see off the TDI rep mobiles which seem to have caught up recently, not that I go out racing them! I know its all about corners blah blah blah but according to Lets Torque I will be going from/to: @150BHP 0-60 = 6.18s, 0-100 = 16.99s @210BHP 0-60 = 4.81, 0-100 = 12.27s So hopefully a very noticeable difference. Basic plan of action: Remove rear clam Replace exhaust manifold (because it is ticking) Maybe replace exhaust if the old one falls apart Send ECU off to CMS Generally follow Chris' stage 1 parts of his excellent SC 'how to', swap injectors, move ECU, pipes, wires etc. Use existing standard air filter Use existing throttle body Bolt manifold and SC on Connect it all up, cross my fingers and press the button. Drive to CMS for a final map. Parts used: SEB F SC group buy: SC, manifold, throttle body, gaskets, bolts etc. VXT Injectors Injector plugs Stage 1 pulley, bracket & belt MAP sensor Support bracket Bolts Pipes, wires etc. Maybe but hopefully not a new 100A alternator I am not doing it on the cheap but I do want to keep the costs down as much as possible, I reckon or at least hope I can do it for about £1600 + rolling road. I will take plenty pics along the way and no doubt be asking many questions too. :groupjump:

i thought the only difference in the stages was the exhaust from 1 & 2.

stage 1 cms change the sc pulley

:yeahthat:

Only way to reduce boost is to step up the pulley size.

Probably getting the CMS stage 1 pulley seem as though they will be mapping it. At this point in time removing the pulley is looking like one of the tougher jobs.

I think alligning the new pulley in order not to shred your belt at the most inconvenient time will be chinky chinky

good luck mate, i'll follow this myself, as i've been thinking of doing an S/C without having to change my VSE, and cooling...just a pipe dream for me yet. will watch with interest.

I've been running a stage II with the OEM exhaust manifold, and 2" futher. Runs fine. It's not like the car won't run; you just loose a bit of bhp. 2.5" is just the icing on the cake, not mandatory.

I had rods and pistons done at the time but that was more for if I wanted to go big power later on.
Only other change was 3 inch pulley

Up to 260 your ok on std internals but prob don't want to push it further without at least rods
