Has anyone experimented with Plasti Dip on their VX?

I've been reading about it and it looks like it might be quite handy for a number of things. In particular I am thinking windscreen surrounds and wheels, either to protect them from harsh brake deposits (RS14s have knackered the finish on both sets of my wheels) and to change the colour.

It's a rubberised plastic coating which can be applied onto any surface with no preparation. It appears to give a very good, idiot proof finish and is quite hard wearing. However, it peels off in great big chunks leaving no residue if you want to get rid of it.

Sounds interesting. Might take a quick look when I get back.

Does sound interesting. I'd like to know if it could withstand a rub from a sponge.

It's only £15 per can and comes in all different colours, even a clear finish. I think it would be pretty good for protecting your wheels from brake dust.

It will withstand a pressure washer unless you're really agressive with it. From reading a few forums people were posting back a year after applying it saying it was still looking fine.

Very interesting. So is it hard to remove the stuff? Would it damage the wheels. Thinking about spraying a mad colour untill my new wheels get here

Only 9 quid here http://www.plastidip...ow&pid=PDL-0009

Wonder how many cans you'd need for 4 wheels

Looks like you could pull it off pretty easily in a few minutes.

Easier to just avoid Pagid's, I'd have thought. The CL RC5+ residue seems to come straight off with a pressure washer, no matter how long it's been sat there.

Plus £5 delivery. I would have thought 2 cans would be sufficient but I haven't checked.

Yeah I will swap to the CL5s when I need to but I have plenty of meat left on mine at the moment.

All bets are off when it comes to you. Leaving the dust on for three years is not a fair test - I'm talking more like 3-6 months. Plus you've got French wheels, so who knows what they're made of. :P

I sprayed the radiator housing on the vx which looked good for a while but now is starting to bubble up so if you want to do small repairs you cant as you cant sand the stuff or even peel a bit as it all starts to lift. You can try it and maybe get a better result but i wont be using it again thats for sure.
