Cms adjusted the pulley on the charger, but it seems that neither top rib position seems quite right when looking at it.

CMS set mine up and it squeeled all the way home and was then improved by BOT. I believe this happened to others. I've only driven without the sc belt for no more than 10 miles so am not sure what problems might occurr if you drove longer than that. I agree with zoobeef that surely there must be some way of lining things up with a laser but dont know of anyone who does that. When the belt snaps, mine has a habit of lashing out and damaging other things, so always worth a look over after. Sometimes the belt breaks into many thin strands and can get everywhere. Martin s

Indeed they did.

Mine started squealing on the way home from Courtenay's when I collected the car after the conversion. BoT sorted it at the time and moved the belt onto the outer 5 ridges and fitted a new tensioner, which sorted it. Never made a noise again after that.

Courtenay's have since fitted the smaller pulley and an even shorted belt to my charger and again absolutely no bother with that either.

ContiTech belt in all cases.

Mine strangely runs on the inner side. I tried the outer side and it just comes off. Thgink there a range of inner versus outer people. I would buy conti belts but from different places, that way there not all the same 'possibly' duff batch like I had, as I had two snap in a very short time, and the next one last all year so far, that came from another source. Just remembered, someone at snetterton said there was or might be soon, a 6 tooth conti belt which could well improve things as that would finally properly fit the pulley, or is that what Techies solved with the modular pulley? Martin s

I will try and give BOT a call Monday. Annoyingly eurocar parts no longer stock conti 1275 or 1280 (both have been superseded by 1270 and 1285 apparently) so I will also try and track these down... 1285 isn't happy and sounds a little loose. I picked up a 1270, but I not sure I will have much luck fitting it as I know that these can be overly tight. Techie- I assume that running a 6 rib involved swapping out a number of other parts as well?

I managed to get a 1280 from camskill - seems a much more ridgid belt than the conti. seems to be running witout a slip, so hopefully i am sorted :)

Supercharger? I dont know what that is, must be something from a cotton mill. I presume these belts are leather and connect it to a line shaft? Seriously that has to be an alignment issue? im plagued by shredding belts at work - its usually angular missalignment.

other belt lengts were squealing, this one seems more quiet. i am going to take a trip up to BOT and have them take a good look at it, as they seem to have sorted a few other peoples belt alignment issues, as i agree with you Jon. i also have a new tensioner as well incase i have knackered the old one out with belts going on me. I also need to give it a good clam off clean down there as there are belt particles around in the engine bay!
