Thats an impressive weight saving considering you have probley added 10+ KG,s of SC & CC plus all the extra water thumbsup
The only weight figure ive seen for the NA is 875 KG,s but i dont know if thats a wet or dry figure ?

AND the Hardtop weighed 8kg!! Couldn't believe it!! Was hoping it would be less though, but as you say the SC, CC, spoiler, extra water all adds up + the Tullet system is quite heavy!!! She IS nimble though!!!!

WOWIE, awsomely huge project to tackle Jimmy. I had no idea that you were upto all this in the last 2 months. It makes my lazy project seem ridiculously slow and I am about to go off and self-flagilate myself with shame !

I can only imagine a SC car is way better on the smaller to mid sized tracks. How do you compare to a GT3 ?

Nev.

The SC car is quick on track!! Still to fine tune my handling, but she's getting there!!

As for the GT3..... I've gone my whatever GT3's it's seen on track, but that might be down to the drivers...? Here's a vid, see for yourself Posted Image

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLt6ohv0U-c

can you list the weight saving you have done?

Lightweight Rollbar cover
Lightweight bootlid
Lightweight Wheels (SuperTurismos)
Lightweight seats
Lighweight Flywheel
Balancer shafts deleted.
Stereo Removal
Airbag Removal
Seatbelt Removal
Parcel Shelf removal
numerous heat shields removed
Boot liners and carpets removed
Loads of bolts left out when putting back together, Posted Image joke

there's bound to be more, but that's off the top of my head Posted Image

Lisa's away on her Hen Weekend so I got some 'me time' in today Posted Image

Had some clam vents that I've been meaning to start for ages so thought I'd make a start while I had the time.

Really time consuming job this, and you've really got to concentrate!!!! Dusty as hell too!!

I don't think the price is bad at all to be fair!! OK the product is the top of the price scale; Nitron often are, but you never read any 'my Nitron's have fallen apart' threads like you do with Gaz, Spitfire etc.... The full Spitfire kit came in over £500 if I remember correctly, and that was made up of cheap joints that caused untold grief to a good many of our members!! Every Spitfire owner I know who pushed HARD on track had issues! MAXR told me it'd cost him over a grand in geo's alone as he went through around 3 sets of links! All well and good for Spitfire to replace the links, but do they then pay for your geo to be re-done...? NO. Chris Randall has been running the Hofmann's Europa on this kit all season with no bother so it's tried and tested in my eyes!!!

Finally got round to taking some shots of my new seat and cage install. Pics are a bit gloomy as it was overcast but you get the gist.

The Tillet B5 seat is the perfect solution for our larger gentlemen as it gives you SUCH a low seating position you have a ton of headroom. Even with the cage.

I've got the seat set to the furthest forward position AND the highest notch and I'm still not able to see completely over the wheel (or reach the pedals as well as I'd like Posted Image)

Looking good Jimmy loving the race set up.

EJM got a bit sticker happy though.

Well I've got a front clam respray coming up, as well as my corporate sponsors to sort out so I will be taking alot of it off. I am meant to have a Total Vaux shoot this week so I told EJM they were welcome to put stickers on, but they know it's not long term.

Ed's cool though, I don't mind getting him some interest and WOW have you seen his facilities....? Really awesome setup he's got there!!! Had a Britcar BMW in, a Ferrari, a stripped out 911 and tons of Sportmaxx type hatchbacks!! It's MASSIVE his place, and he's next door (near enough) to and ECU optimisation company!!!

She inches ever nearer to completion!!

Finally got my new tyres and wheels fitted.

Got ATS DTC's with Pirelli P-Zero Nero 215/45/17's on the front and Pirelli P-Zero Rosso 245/40/17's on the rear. Not happy about having to mix tyres but am told compound is the same, only the tread patterns differ.... Probably lies Posted Image

However, I'm really happy with the wheels, they look stunning!!! Fronts rub like hell at the mo, but am getting arch extenders to rectify that.

Car is almost completely branded up for racing now. I think it looks daft myself as there's no there, but she looks mean, that's the main thing! The view from the rear with the super wide tyres looks :tt:

First test on track on new tyre/wheel combo next weekend!!!

i think your missing 1 thing..

a good front splitter like this one

Funnily enough I mailed John Thorne last week to see if he'd do me a super duper deal on one. He wouldn't Posted Image

Well if you can't beat my time in a standard NA done on 80k shocks with a passenger, then you should just give up!

Not so, I've learnt the hard way that intimate knowledge of a track counts for alot more than horsepower!! My old VXR was had about 50hp over Cliffie when I did Castle Combe for hte first time but Cliffiehad raced there loads and whoooped me!!

That was my first ever time on track. Never got near to the same level of confidence when on my own.
Only been on knockhill 3 times.

In fact, that was about my 12th or 13th lap. thumbsup

Either way, we'll try and get back from the hoon to support you but have a feeling you might be finished by the time we roll in.

edit: are those 17inch wheels? They look mahoosive!

17's all round yeah Posted Image

Interesting...what made you go for 17s all round rather than the standard 16/17 ? In fact what tyres have you got on the front ? I presume the rears are 225/45/17 ?

215/45/17 front 245/40/17 rear. I had a run in with a Belgian Speedster on this setup at Abbeville and I was very impressed by his setup. Also Time Attack have stipulated we use Pirelli tyres and there were better tyres available in these sizes.

This post is by Tut's a Scottish Lotus type who was there when the car was originally crashed through a bush into a feild

Hi Jimmy, recognised your car from the before pictures. I last saw it in the field when I stopped to help Kevin out, as it was me he was following home.

Great to see that it went back onto the road again, and a fantastic job you have done with it, especially putting it in the Time Attack series. I may see you if I come down to KH on the 14th, and happy to help you out with some sighting laps. I am lapping in 57-58 secs on track days in my Elise S1 S/C Honda, but I have done over 100 track days there.

Cheers

tut

Fitted and setup this very day Posted Image Had a brief problem when I realised the brackets supplied did not have the brackets to mount the ABS module, but a b;ast with the hacksaw and MIG welder soon fixed that

Posted Image

Not pretty I know, but.... It fits!!

Posted Image

Very nice!!

Posted Image

All I need is a working engine now and I can test drive them Posted Image Oh well, I enjoy fixing it as much as I do driving it Posted Image

Got a roof now too, but the colour match is a bit wonky....

Posted Image

Engine should be sorted now, but I'm officially the first VX to run with the new Race 46's so wain and see who they handle eh....
