You feel the difference Jimmy?

Car feels super planted, but there's new shocks on the car so hard to distinguish what is the shock and what is the wing....

The rears shocks have 650lb springs and the wheel is bottoming out in the wheel arch so I guess that's the wing forcing the subframe down which is pretty mad.

OK so I've lost my way with this project thread!! Racing took over and havent had time to update this thread.

So in a nutshell....... Had terrible problems with the engine after Brands and it let us down again at Cadwell. Ended up removing it completely and dropping a standard engine ahead of Le Mans. Engine was great and we've seen out the season in style taking a double 1st at Anglesey and a 1'st/2nd at Snetterton which secured us the overall win in the championship Posted Image sweeeeeeeeet!!

So now this engine has to come out and mine will need rebuilding so I may as well take it to stage III. Parts being sorted for all this.
In the mean time; my latest acquisition....

Some rather sexy Nitron wishbone rose joints Posted Image

A proper engineering solution!

Even comes with an application tool included to ensure proper aplication depth into the wishbone, very impressed!! Bearings are now in the freezer ahead of the installation (hopefully in a few weeks).

So some cookery Posted Image

Take one VX220 wishbone. Cover in hammerite paint and bake in heated shed for 8hrs.

Posted Image

Make sure inside edge of wishbone is completely clean.

Posted Image

Remove rose joints from freezer

Posted Image

Place bolt and applicator in from the bottom and align the rose joint to top (not visible in pic)

Posted Image

Place the top of the applicator on the rose joint with a nut and wind it finger tight

Posted Image

Using utensils now tighten so that rose joint is aligned and pulled into wishbone correctly

Posted Image
Posted Image

Continue to stir until applicator tool is completely tight againt wishbone.

Posted Image

Rose joint is now inserted to the correct depth

Turn wishbone over and pack full of grease again
Posted Image

Push in spacer and oring

I'm usually pretty prompt turning the car around but I've got so little time to play with at present I'm having to do this bush install in fits and starts. Job was put on hold as I needed to get my drivers side front hub machined for more camber and had to wait on some ball joints to be delivered.

So got my bits today and did a chunk more work Posted Image

Hub machined on the main face too to centralise the brake disc and to add more neg camber. Castor also maximised.
Posted Image

Front right wishbone fully finished now with new ball joints, new wishbone bushes, machined hub, brake cooling duct
Posted Image

ABS is coming out soon, have to do the passenger side of the car next though, but have to take a trip to the big A first for some aero mods!

Curious to what is exactly machined here to gain extra Castor?
Also for Camber; I simply shaved a few mils of my steering arm, but you can achieve the same with the "steering flange hub side". Why/how is the main face machined? :glare:

Edit; I assume main flange machine to centralise brake disc in the calliper. That makes sense

Castor was maximised with shims, no machining. I'd say it's possible to achieve more castor though by machining the wishbone at the pickup points and using extra shims. Don't fancy that though Posted Image

I had to machine the hub to centralise the disc so I had the camber side faces done too rather than machine the arms too thumbsup

Well mine is nearly clipped to page two so I thought I'd chuck a post in before I fall into obscurity  Been giving 'cars' a rest for a while now the race season is through as it has dominated my life for months. So I've been getting up the mountain on the bike and treating the wife well  Just back from a weekend in London with the wife (went to see Shrek, it was ACE). Now car time again :D Got a certain somebody looking into getting the engine to stage III, got a new wing to fit, a brake cooling kit to fit, abs delete to fit, lightweight battery to fit and a few other jobs. I'd better get cracking

Put some time in on the car today. Thanks to Joe's magical dremmel skills I'm now able to remove ,my rear clam on my own  Don't even have to remove the diffuser either which makes life much easier!!!

Clam off so went about sorting these new spoiler mounts. Doubled them up and fixed them to the subframe. Quite happy with the results too, spoiler is MEAN!!!!

Posted Image

Not 100% sure it's quite high enough so I'm getting some new brackets made up but all that will have to wait until after the engine gets sorted.

Can't wait to get the car up and running again and give her a bloody good clean!

I'm constructing a basic project thread with nothing in it so it's easier for people to follow which eventually I will lock and put in a different thread. Thought I'd do it in here as it's private. It will not be replacing the actual thread.
