Dunno to be honest, i'll give him a call now. It's the last shape Rallye so it could be out of your price range. It's a cracking car, and I love the bright blue body/white wheels look! :)

Looks just like this one -

I know of someone that has a fully prepped 1.6 (which is as quick as a 1.9 on track tbh) is looking for about 1K for someone to come take it away Can find out more if you want ??

I'm keen on two of the 205 gti's on Book a Track classifieds, 1988 E 205 1.6 £450 ono, but doesn't state mot mileage etc, or 1989 G 205 1.9 loads of new parts, uprated for track already and has spare wheels and tyres £1000 sounds like a bargain to me, what do you think?

The 106 Rallye is a very popular choice for stock hatch boys (thought it was 1.4 16v? - or 1.6 8v  )

Might be worth looking at one of the ex race cars - you'd get good suspension, rollcage etc... Then you could let us, err, borrow it - sometime around the 29th August - won't take it far ;)

My mate has the last shape 106 Rallie, blue with white steel wheels. He's looking to sell it, I just keep saying "whhhhhhhhhhy!?"

How much ??
Absolutly stunning cars, I LOVE EM!!

TM, before you go out and buy a 1.9 check out a few options with the 205's. IIRC the only real differences between the 1.6 and 1.9 were engine, gearbox, brakes and interior.
As you'll be stripping the interior and swapping the brakes anyway it might make more sense to get a 1.6 as their won't be much difference on track.

The 1.6 has a shorter 1st - 3rd gears than the 1.9 which will probably be more suited to the track.

Also (and this is the way I would go) you can pick up an MI16 engine for about £200 and they drop straight in with minimal effort.

With a stripped out 1.6 GTI, big brakes, Koni's and an MI16, I think you'd be giving a few VX's a scare.
I think you could do all this within a £1000 budget, including buying the car. (if you do the prep yourself)

The later ones use the GTI engine, which is 1.6 16v.

Just left a msg to find out. Dunno how keen he is to sell, he keeps talking about it because he wants a Clio, personally I think he should keep it. They are rare and so much fun to drive! :)

...and they go like stink. You have to replace the bonnet with the one from the automatic model to make way for the engine. So cheap, so much fun. I'm even temped to offer any help you need with it. ;)
