With my new TD1.2's coming in from the groupbuy i'm trying to decide which tires i will fit on them... Posted Image (like most of us)

But the question is can i fit 215/45/R16 on the fronts without any problems? Will only have a 3.9% radius difference (too fast) and the mostly fitted 205/45/R16 will have a whopping 5.3%!

I've looked at the Yokohama AD08 but if they reach -10C even in storage they will be brittle and take damage Posted Image! (according to Yokohama NL)

Can't help with the size query Im afraid but I do like the look of the KU36s. As far as I know you'll be the first to try them on a VX on the forum thumbsup

From memory I don't think you can get the correct sized fronts. Haven't read any rave reviews about them either. If you want a budget option then probably best to stick withe federals. Or if you don't mind spending more R1Rs

How do you find them? What previous tyres can you compare them too? I'm currently on khumo ku39's but I fancy going for 215 45 16. I presume you don't get any rubbing?

205 45 16 is the std size that most go for on the AD08's. I've had them for 2 years now. Currently borrowed a set of Toyo T1R's and I really like them for road use. The sidewalls on the AD08's are so stiff they really do muck up the ride quality and I have not noticed a lack of grip with the Toyos at road speeds.

I had 205/50/16's on my TD's I know many folks ran 205/45/16's and had less scrubbage issues etc.

True, heavier steering though.

They're not available in 205's on a 16" wheel anyway (assuming you can find anywhere in the UK that actually sells them at all).

Well, i've only done a few hundreds kilometers and on the road only so i cannot compare the grip.
They are installed on 8 x 17 OZ ultraleggera wheels ET 35 at the rear and ET 20 (15 mm spacer) at the front.
At the rear i've not increased the mass at 19.3 kg per wheel , the tyre itself is 11 kg . This is slightly lighter than a Superleggera and R888 225/45/17 combo.
No rubbing at the rear
At the front the tyre is 9.2 kg and when installed on its wheel the weight is 17.6 kg. It's 2kg more than with my 16" wheel but it's the price to pay to be road legal (in France)
The tyre rub on the clam at full lock at the classical location with this tyre size . However, i may not need extenders as 1 or 2 mm of clam wear could be sufficient.
So far the feeling is OK . They are quiet despite the thread pattern.
I still have to lower the car a bit more notably at the front and a new geo setting is necessary to really investigate their capabilities.

My cars fitted with speedline's ( front is 7j/16" et 26) which are currently fitted with 205/45/16 ku39's, I put the steering on full lock and there seems to be loads of clearance, more than enough for the extra 5mm for the ku36 215/45/16?

Never mind, just fit the widest tyres you can find. Note tyre sizes can lie, eg one models 205 could be as wide as a 215 etc.

Whilst it is true to an extent most manufacturers produce to ETRTO specs so there shouldnt be too much variance

Happy to oblige.

Not all things are equal, even with the same manufacturer (Toyo in this case).
