But Matt, they would have been made to some sort of spec that (I imagine) the tyre makers couldn't give a sh*t about :lol:/>

it never ceases to amaze me here (well the internet generally)....one day everybody wants to be an engineer the next they are just posting subjective crap because it suits. But then I agree'd that there are tolerances so we'll leave it at that

Some epic tolerances in tread width, then there is sidewall ballooooooning etc. Shame, I'd love to be an engineer...... Ohhhh hang on

I've not used KU36, but after much abuse on track, the surface of my KU31s was decidedly aveniform. Great summer tyres, but not quite track enough for me.

The KU31 has never been intended to be used on track.

The KU36 is for this use. At least, this is what Kumho claims:

The ultimate in street handling and grip, the Ecsta XS is designed for the most extreme handling and grip capability in normal street use. Built to be used on the street as well as the racetrack, the Ecsta XS provides the steering response and dry grip of a race compound tire with the added street use durability for driving a vehicle for everyday activities. The Ecsta XS is also legal for use in SCCA "ST" class events. If your passion includes driving your vehicle to the racetrack for a lapping day and returning home on one set of tires no matter what the weather, the Ecsta XS is the tire for you.

I'm going to go for the ku36 in 215/45/16 and 235/45/17 for the back both of these tyres will give me just under 5mm ride height gain but il loose 5mm in the arch gap. I've checked for clearance and I'm 99% certain that they won't be any issues with rubbing? Has anyone got 235/45/17 on an et35 8j 17" rear rim?

With me going for 215/45/16 on the front which will raise the car slightly but will fill the arch gap more i was thinking of going for 235/45/17 for this reason to match the front I.e which will lift it slightly but fill the arch gap a bit, I no my speedo will slightly be out but this isn't a problem as its only small. So I'm not sure wether I'm best sticking with 225/45/17 or going for 235/45/17 to match the front?

215 fronts... You must have some arms :tt: I use 205/50/16 595 RS-R's at the front, and they are overkill on the road, and a right pain when it comes to parking manouvers.. And I'm not completely limp-wristed..

My mums got them on her elan m100, she's not a track driver but my brother took the elan out and he reckons there quite sticky tyres for the road (maybe similar to r1r's but for a fraction of the price) :)

How do they compare pricewise to the more commonly used sticky road tyres?
