a 235 should fit on those okay , mines a 9J with 235/40/17 . Tyre sizes are not that accurate and vary a lot in the one size.

Thanks for that. If they do fit ok (I'm 99% certain they will) can you see any negatives fitting 235/45/17 on the back compared to 225/45/17?

I've never tried them , try and compare the rolling radius between them both as this will make the speedo less accurate

The speedo doesn't put it out by much ( -1.4%) I.e at 30mph my speedo will read 29,58 mph and at 60mph my speedo will read 59.16mph. I think on standard Vxt wheels the sidewall is slightly bigger at the back compared to the front tyres, so I'm guessing the slightly bigger sidewall on the 23/45/17 won't make much of a difference?

235/45/17 is fine (assuming the ride height and wheel offset isn't too low / high). The larger tyre circumference will effectively serve to reduce the cars final drive, but that shouldn't really have too much of a noticable effect on acceleration if your car has +300lb/ft...
