End of the season and the last round had all the usual ups and downs that we have had all year.

We did a test day at Brands on the friday which was brilliant for setting the car up and was the best prep we had done all season. In the morning there were only about 6 cars on the track in our sessions so we never had an issue with traffic and it meant that we could pump in consistant lap times enabling us to make changes to the car and seeing if it made us faster or slower. We wanted to try something different to try and close the gap so tried some Silverstone tyres instead of the Kumho V70 we had been using all year. Darron started doing consistant 55 second laps and considering we had never been to Brands before we were fairly happy. Had one off where he overcooked it and nearly went into the tyres at Mclaren but luckily the car came to a stop just before the tyre wall. Darron complained of locking up into druids so we dropped tyre pressures and softened the front shocks. We had a chat with Marshall in the Miltek golf and he had been having the same problem so that made us feel happier as it seemed to be the track rather than the car or driver. In the second session we picked up the pace doing consistent laps in the 54's and even manged a 53.2 (best time we managed all weekend). In the afternoon there were a lot more cars testing than in the morning and as alot of them were civics their pace was a lot sllower than us and they got in the way so it wasnt as productive as the morning.

We stayed down south so filled our saturday with a trip into London to try and keep us out of the pub. Had a decent day out.

The time attack day didnt go to plan and we were so much slower than we had been on the friday. We dont know why this was as we couldnt beat mid 55 second laps and we were doing those in the first 10 mins on the friday. The track temps were a lot cooler and Ronnie and Umar werent as quick as we expected so it must of been down to the track. We stuck the kumhos back on for the quallifying and final session but they made no improvement. Dixon in the Nissan beat us in qually putting us fourth and only two tenths behind Ronnie in second. In the final we were even beat by Jackson in his exige putting us fifth. This was gutting as we except our car is in a different league to Ronnies and Umars but we should be able to beat Jackson and Dixon easily.

Ended up third overall which is good. Feel tired and the season had far more lows than highs.

Nothing at all wrong with his lines around there in the final.

I think you two have achieved a hell of a lot and to get third is great. Ronnie and Umar are old hands at this and both have serious race cars now. Umar has upped his game massively this season and to even get close to these guys is not to be underestimated.

Considering what I have read on this thread, I think it was really good that you persevered till the end. Some may have given up. You should be really proud of yourselves. Well done lads. :D

Well done chaps, true northern grit...as already said many would have quit. And doing it with (I imagine) a budget a fraction of most other teams.

Darren, would you buy another VX? or move to the Dark side? (Lotus) I've been where you are now & did do the Lotus thing, then realised that the Lotus thing was very bland in comparison to my fettled VX.

Keep your car & let's get together with a few others for a few track days next year, you'll realise just how good your car is!
