Hi Steve, I just popped into the garage and dug the gasket out, it's one of those graphite sheet jobbies to cope with the hreat presumably. I'll pop it in the post to you if you PM me your address. :) Nev.

can you recall which gasket set it came with, I'm ordering them all Monday, so no need to post. plan B is throw on a new gasket on engine 1, quick fix for Le Mans. whilst engine 2 gets built up with all the good stuff. I am going to begin strip the rear down tomorrow.

It was part of the Elring (OEM) cylinder head gasket pack. Part number 93172424. No problem to post if you need it.

finally got the underdrive pulley off, with it being ally and any excuse to bind. Quite a tight tolerance profile where is centres on the crankshaft drive, so it took quite a lot of penetrating oil and careful manipulation. But its now off, and I could finally remove the lower cambelt cover so I can get at the belt and water pump. Draining out and stripping everything off the head next.

They wil be fine I am sure, plenty of MigWeb people have used them for some considerable time now. Just be sure to get the pistons the right way round when you install them in the bores as the gudgeon pin hole is offset by 1mm.

I was going to let you have to honour of dropping in the first rod and piston. It will reuse the vxr piston and pin. I still have not got enough info yet to decide on what bearings to go for.

I don't think big end bearing choice is a huge issue really, it's not like you ever hear of the OEM ones failing. So for that reason I'd just buy Mahle ones if I were you and not get too neurotic about it. ;) Are you gonna try a mild DIY rehone with a drill bit attachment? Also, have you got a ring clamp - we dont want to bend/twist those delicate rings on insertion.

Try asking Steve Milton for a price for the bearings, Im sure mine were a lot lot cheaper than that.

yeah , I think will get steve to supply the more critical bits , bearings, rings and borrow his expertise. I have not lifted the crank, but given the small size variations and options , he would need measurements. Stuff like gaskets, bolts, I'm just going oem.

I use and supply OEM just not in GM packaging.
