Mine had two rear calms under warranty from Vauxhall because of bubbling. Guess what? It looks like a blue aero around the boot lid and under the rear lights now and that must be from a clam made in 2006 or so? I'm getting a full respray in the new year and would like to cure this but it's just a part of the car I guess so I'm not too bothered by it. i.e. you can't see it when your driving.

Can anyone tell me what the likely causes of paint bubbling are?

Can it be avoided on a car kept outdoors in all weathers?

I find when I shag the misses on the bonnet, if I cum on the paint it causes bubbling, her cum dont seem to affect it....... :ban:

So I take it that stone chips/paint coming away looks the least visible on silver vx220's?

IMHO if you're the sort of person that gets upset by paint bubbling then it might not be the car for you. There are a thousand other things that the vx is susceptible to that will bug the sh** out of you too. Drive it, abuse it and get over it :D

Ok thanks :)

I was just checking because I don't mind the chips/bubbles but I will get comments from people at work, along the lines of 'you spent all that money on a car and it doesn't even have proper paint!'

Another thing to bear in mind is the state the body would be in if it was made of metal. For instance, my BMW has rust on both front arches, some beginning to develop on the rear arches, a long bubble on the tailgate below the boot handle and a bit below the tailgate. Then there are the stonechips on the front arches and bonnet... Apart from the most extreme cases, the paint bubbling IMO is more of a minor annoyance/nit picking. Ideally it wouldn't bubble, but the fact still stands that the bodywork will still be in far better shape than that of similar aged rep boxes.

I had both clams replaced under warranty and both began to bubble again within 2 years - the rear much worse than the front and in the usual area around the boot. Luck of the draw I reckon.

Seriously silver is the best for not showing swirls, scratches and chips.Thats why it is the most popular,or was a few years back.
I remember buying a new silver Golf GTi t about 5/6 years back and nearly all the cars at the garage were silver.
