:yeahthat: I was convinced I wanted one before I even sat in one or got close to one in the flesh. When I did it was all I'd hoped for and was delighted. If you're swaying at all or being all rational about it. Its not really the car for you.

JGs post is spot on. When the need for a car arose, my shopping 'list' was a list of one. At that point, I hadn't even seen a VX in real-life, and knew nothing about them - other than that they were phwoargh, and I wanted one. Does that mean that the Griff Rees-Jones ad had a success rate of at least one?

The only thing making you waver, from what I can tell, is the frustration of not finding one - which is a bit odd. IIRC, I searched for 5/6 months. Indeed, I only went to see Vince out of desperation - because I really wanted yellow, and thank God I did

Patience; and be prepared to travel :)

Hello H :) good to see you on here :D

Forget the Clio, great fun but not even in the same class. Boxster is a good bet with service history is you want a softer option than the VX. Clio V6, don't bother. Not easy or relaxing to drive, not very quick and huge bills to run.

Clio v6 true there not the fastest, but much more relaxing to drive And easyer than the Vx apart from the turning circle, servicing is 120 with Renault the only big bill is the cambelt every 5years which is 1000 😳

true. but 99.9% of the general public wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the v6 and a barryboyed 172.

A noble would be a good car to replace the Vx if the ££ was there

Im not so sure about that aimy i looked at two before deciding to buy another vx and to say they were a bit ropey was an understatement, the cabin felt like it was a budget kit car and if there not looked after they deteroiate quickly,at least ours had some sort of quality control when it left the factory, which in the examples i've seen must of been very lacklustre, having said that there are some cracking examples out there but you pay a premium for them, you cant do nobles on a budget, there also suprisingly large compared to our little rockets.Quite fast though ! but a 250bhp vx is just as quick imop

God, I want an Ultima GTR so badly. Sorry; Noble talk reminded me for some reason Continuing on from JG's post, and Scotto's above - you definitely own the VX with your heart. It makes no fricking sense otherwise. I have often said that for no other car would I put up with the amount of crap (usually caused by fucktards/fucktarditis, which the VX seems to attract like a magnet; but in part due to endless things going bang on it), and endless god-damn worrying/caring (it's like having a child) that is associated with the VX. But you don't think/logicise about it, or the vast amount of spondoolies - you just do it Nothing about the VX makes sense; but God we love 'em. As Ali once said - I'll be buried in mine PS Ref. VXs in the wet - everyone should be made to watch the video of Fab at North Weald on a hugely soggy day (on here somewhere). That shows categorically that VXs are most definitely not allergic to wet stuff

My 10 pence worth. I came to the VX from a Westfield (C20XE redtop 200 bhp 600kg). This was an amazing toy for weekends and my most 'full on' driving experience but in the last year of ownership I only did 300 miles. Depending on your level of commitment and expectations from a weekend toy it may be the car for you and available in your budget. The VX for me is a far more practical proposition as it has a roof that works, a boot you can fit enough for a weekend in, my wife will accompany me in it and is known to drive it on sunny days and it is an absolute hoot when you get the chance to play on those very early mornings out in the Yorkshire Dales!

My old NA slaughtered 3 M400's at Bedford Autodrome. Granted that was mostly down to them all dying by lunchtime through one ailment or another.

Probably not, when half the Noble owners club seemed to be there.
