I have been enjoying my stage II SC for about a month now. It has been fun. But on the way home from work today she died. I tried to restart her and and after a couple of tries she lives. Engine light is on though. And she revs between 1000 and 2000 rpm up and down and she does not react to the throttle at all. Then she dies again, starts and dies. After a few minutes of this I can get her going so much so she is driveble a mile or so before she dies again and if I rev her more than 4000 rpm she dies straight away. Well not really dies but the throttle dies and she idles between 1000 and 2000 rpm: again. Does this make any sense to you? Any ideas of what to do?

I ran down to my garage at once. The MAP sensor is still in place.
Plugs of doom must mean that there might ba a connection problem you mean?
Then it might be one of my soldering points from when I extended the loom?

Maybe your soldering and definitely worth checking the throttle body but the loom of doom above the nearside drivers arch liner is the normal source of throttle related problems.

I know there is a couple of big connectors behind the radiator tank. Is there some on the drivers side as well?

Ah sorry, drivers side, if your car is left hand drive. Yep, it's the connectors behind the expansion tank that usually cause problems. Normally just need cleaning up and making sure the female side of the connector is making good contact with the male side.

But that sensor is like 5 weeks old.
I will check the connections for it.

How do I check the MAP sensor itself?

Can you post a pixie of your SC. Especially the hosing on the SC actuator.

The actuator is the black thing that doesn't look very hightech at all. Right?

5 weeks old sensor can still fail... You could measure voltages, but simply replacing with a (borrowed) new one is easier.
In Germany a few MAP's failed due to the heat of the inlet manifold and they sometimes mount these now "remote". (T-ed into the pressure regulator hose)

Yes. It's where it's hoses go that might be of interest.

Well. Plug of doom, TB plug and MAP plug has been flooded in contact spray. No luck. I did try to restart the car with the MAP senson unplugged and got the exact same result. But where can I get a sensor in Sweden? I read somewhere that it might be the same one in 1,7 cdti or something like that. Does anybody know? Pictures of the actuator are on their way Smiley. But I only have one tube on it.
