About time I updated this. I've added some vents in the side (admittedly small) to vent some heat. I'm hoping that the flow over them will draw more heat out than the OE vents which have a very turbulent ballooning current over them. I've added an alu flange (fnaaar, flange) for the polycarbonate window. The tricky bit is the hinge. I initially wanted to tap into the roll bar bolts with a tabbed bracket for the hinge. This would push back the hinge to clear the window. I'm mocking up with a muncher cover that has longer bolts, when I looked at the OE cover the bolts are MUCH shorter so wouldn't take the bracket. Looks like it will need a bracket bonding to the roll bar cover so it wont be a straight bolt on. Bah! I had a set of hinges cut but still not perfected. There's another set on the way. Starting to get costly prototyping hinges when the laser cutter is charging me 20 quid a time. Anyway, it now looks like this..

About time I updated this with recent talk of hinges.
I finally cut a decent set of hinge brackets so the only non-bolt mod is to bond the hinge bracket into the roll bar cover. I cut the hinges so that it bonds to the extra thick flange on the inner part.


The hinge part runs on a brass bush with a bolt through. The spacer washers are just to get the bracket into a flatter bit of the roll bar cover. I may make another set of brackets though with a larger bonding area. These were from 20mm angle and I might go for 40mm to be extra safe.



Hopefully these pics will help someone with a jimmy lid develop some hinges

Just need some warm dry weather to get it fitted and painted. The spray booth is a bit wet and blowey at the moment!
