If it were me I'd scratch a long standing itch I have to get a Porsche 968 sport. Everyone goes on about the clubsport but most of the CS bits were dealer added and a car with 20 year old suspension is a bit redundant. Get a 968 sport in a solid colour, carrera wheels, rip the rears out if not needed and fit some KW coil overs on it ;)

I can't afford a Z4M. Z3M is in the same bracket as my VX AKAIK.

Been looking at those too........in a truely feminine fashion though I just prefer the looks of the Z3M Coupe and wonder whether it would actually be a better drivers car than the 968 :ninja:

If its a weekender the M3 I pointless unless you stretch to a CSL.

The perfect touring weekender in my opinion is the Boxster S or SLK55, or if you want BMW a Z4M roadster.

What's the budget and do you want/need rear seats or a roof?

Boxter s will cost you a re mortgage to keep on the road,SLK ok if your a girl,Z4M OMG ££££££££

(slk oh sh*t my mate has one, hope he misses this)

A good Z3 coupe can only keep its value or go up. You dont see many about (well I dont). Future classic maybe ?

I honestly think the 968 will run rings around the Z3M from A to B, though it won't have the punch in the gut of the M engine. Other advantages of the Porsche would be lower tax, much cheaper bills and it's the age where you could have a chance of DIY work. New stuff is laptop only repairs! A red 968 with black wheels and the right lowering stance would be stunning, and you could always get some fixed recaro OEM style seats to complete the "clubsport +" look and feel. Another from leftfield - Clio V6?

No to a Clio V6. Surely tax for a 968 and a Z3MC would be the same??? Will go and have a read about 968s and see if it changes my mind. I'm with ghand though, a Z3M coupe must surely be a future classic...

Tax pre march 01 will be the same, z3 ran to 2002 though. Personally don't think the z3m will be a classic because performance moves on so its not that quick in today's world, and it's not pretty enough to be classic art like an e type. Also has no pedigree like a Delta Integrale. It'll probably level off though so I doubt youll lose on one. It's a great headache to have, I'm jealous lol.

That's what I've heard too.
Plus they just look like a Clio with a bodykit....not my bag I'm afraid.

I had a 52 plate E46 M3 for my company car but I used it for trackdays as well. Had 6 pot AP brakes and 2 way KW suspension and a spare set of wheels with AO48s. She was still going with 150k miles when I chopped her in for the VX. Did have to replace the VANOS which was mildly pricey  and had a new gearbox but that was under warranty  She's a big heavy beast but at the time I hadn't been introduced to the 'VX way' Sadly Thorney made her into a race car and one of his customers promptly wrote her off at Silverstone. Remember he had a BIG accident, that was my car :(

I think you are going to struggle to find a nice Z3m for your budget. Steve
