Sounds like the painful process of checking wiring by the sound of it :( Certainly check the key connections for continuity and clean up any earth etc. Also some extra focus around the loom connections for the DBW, and ign module stuff Will be something trivial just the worse things to pin down :( Had an issue on a turbo many years back and that was earth on the ecu related Good luck DG

Throttle body or pedal or the wiring in between. Loom of Doom springs to mind.

Could it be EGR related? When that sticks it can play silly buggers with the revs... The cutting out, in particular at speed, reminds me of a problem I had on an old Fiat Uno many years ago. It turned out to be the fuel filter. Changed that out and all was good again!

Deffinitely loom of doom type symptoms. Check the spring/latch in the terminals as well as the general cleanliness. Mine had weak terminals and gave these symptoms. Swapped the terminals and its behaved for a while now. If you need terminals give me a should, I can look back to find which ones you need for the blue / black plugs. (blue plug for TB connections by the way)

Think someone needs to come up with a kit of new connectors to replace those shitty ones in the bay.

Yeah, I'd thought that. I can obtain the ones in the header tank plugs but the ones for the throttle and pedal are only available from Delphi and you have to order 1000's.

Just replace with a few sure seal connectors or similar.

Neil, Once I track down one of our crimp tools at work I'll see what can be done to help.

Thank you

all this switching off whilst driving is a bit naughty
but the worst is when you pull away from the lights and it then cuts out
and car behind nearly joins me in the cabin !!!!!!

once again thanks for advise and offers of help

Any mods to your injector loom? I had some bad joints on mine for a while caused me real pain, I only found them in the end by running the car on the drive and giving the loom a gentle tug, I found the bad joint/s that way when it ran rough, just a thought

Had a similar experience with the relays in the boot. But mine only seemed to happen with extreme g force from flooring it or taking a corner. Think its the seimens relay which isnt expensive from ebay. £40 from vaux. Worth a change.

So....... my thinking that water was getting into the electrical system and causing the ignition to miss behave is wrong !!!!

some times it starts and idles and the gas pedal dose nothing.

this starts the engine again and off we go

any one had similar to this ?????

I can't keep driving like this it's dangerous and silly

You could always set it on fire and claim off the insurance :drink:

But legally speaking, I didn't tell you to do that

do you think I'd get enough back to buy another though
I'd also need to get the special vocky engine out of it too.

I have thought of that too

I'm off on holiday tomorrow so when I return I funk around with it some more

hopefully it's just a simple fix
