They were unreliable as fcuk weren't they

I presume noble would of tweaked it a little ie made it stronger

PMSL. Fraid not. Strap on a turbo and see what happens. The engine is at its limit verging on overstressed.

The M400 engine has uprated internals IIRC, but the 'standard' 2.5 / 3.0L Duratec engines has only different pistons (so stock rods / crank). I didn't know they were particularly unreliable engine wise, but then again I've never owned one.. Possibly the propensity / temptation to 'turn up the boost' that are the cause of reliablity issues..

Then again I'm sure the durability tests weren't anywhere near what a production engine would get, given the low volumes the car was made in.

Yes but an Atom is not a VX is it?
I could easily afford to go out today and buy an Atom if I so wanted too.

So it is you who are missing as you say..........."the point."
We all own the Vauxhall VX.

Korkey.

As you're not the thread starter, i'm surprised you automatically have an idea of what he was intending to do with his car, and why.

In fact, the point of the VX220 is to have a lightweight car that handles well and performs well with a modest, cheap to run power plant. Surely changing the engine to something more powerful removes that? how many people here bought their VX220 with the intent of putting a 430 bhp engine into it? No one, infact everyone on here who bought their VX220 did so because they enjoyed how it felt with a 150 or 200 bhp engine. THAT is the point.

I had a st24 and the only problems I had was the intake manifold control box, which Ford handily fitted on top of the exhaust manifold.
