A harrup SC would be no less / more reliable than any SC conversion. But it would have a lot of headroom for extra torque , whereas most are running the Eaton M62 flat-out , or even beyond its efficiency zone

what he means is it will be quieter than the m62 (as it's not screaming it's head off), and goes a lot quicker

I used mine as a daily for 8 years 6 of the s/c with both m62 then the harrop

I was thinking of getting an SC conversion for mine next year (Jo and Lee). Would it make sense to consider this instead ?

How much extra wonga are we looking at all in.

I use mine as a daily, so it would need to be reliable easy, to drive etc.

I depends how deep your pockets are, getting up to 250bhp is cheap >4k. for above that you then need to take the engine out, swap cams, pistons, rods (so that is 1k just for those parts) then factor in a better exhaust >£1.5k, the harrop charger, uprated fuel pump and you are now inot he big money. I would say go for stage 2, then another time upgrade more. na to sc is a big jump. na to 350+bhp would be quite terrifying.

Sounds good. I'll drop jo and Lee a PM asking if they are up to doing one of these, cost etc.

You could propably bolt one of these onto a standard engine and replace the pulley for a larger one and keep power down to 250 ish.

Which would be a bit of a waste! Saying that though, the prices being talked about here are in line with what you'd pay Courtenays for a new M62..

don't think you get a pulley big enough the 80mm(3.15) standard pulley with oem cams and low comp pistons ( ballance delete kit fitted) came out about 315bhp smoothflow go upto 3.3"

to get 360+ you will need to get a 2.9 inch pulley or smaller for more power, I got mine from smoothflow great chap VERY helpful and was here in a few days

Am I right in thinking that 90% + of the costs for stage 3 SC are internals/cams/labour/remap So this is still a sensible before jumping straight to a Harrop? Are there any cost savings by going straight from stage 2 to a Harrop, rather than stage 3. (Other than the cost of a remap and a smaller pulley?)

You save 15% on a harrop and the cost/ labour in a remap and pulley kit.

In other words, you're not saving anything over going to stage3 then 4. Just skipping 3 and going the whole hog.

That's a double edge sworded if ever I saw one:

You're not saving anything over stage 3 (in my head this translates to...' therefore it can wait')

Just skipping 3 and going the whole hog for the same money. (in my head says ... buy it buy it now!)

Need to get a definite respray price first. Doubt I'll have funds in place ready for this one.
Empty Barclay Card Gold sitting at my feet that arrived today isn't helping, must cover it up with something.

It can wait. I was just stating what this group buy will save you (15%). Fork in the cost of the harrop, £1500 and you won't save anything going to stage 3 first. Stage 4 is just stage3 with a harrop and injectors (£350). I'm in as I get a the correct supercharger at a good price. If I don't go to stage4 it should sell for what it was bought for. No real loss, but some gain.
