that follower has just popped out, easy job to remove the cam and refit it
Yup, won't have caused any damage.

Hmm, thats a little concerning as i was sort of led to believe this was around 20 hours work to fix?
Whilst i'm pleased the SC is happening, the cost part is something i could really have done without at this time of life!
How long you you expect it to take to fix Vocky? Fez?

It's basically the same amount of time/work as a timing chain change, as you'll need to release the timing chain to take the camshaft off.

Car has been away for about 10 weeks now, So far the following has been done :
Subframe Repair
Gaz Gold Pro's replaced by Gaz
Old Engine removed after follower broken
New Engine Installed complete with Supercharger
Charge cooler pressure tested and fitted
Exhaust Flex Section repaired
Bodywork and MOT hopefully to follow in the next couple of weeks, doesn't look a long list but progress none the less
However, a big Milestone this week :
The bloody thing still works! All the thoughts of the costs racking up vanished when it fired.
Gutted i won't make the national but at least its getting somewhere, there's always next year! The arrival of 2 small people into the household next week will put a dent in driving time anyway so looks like Plans have some breathing space!!!

Thanks everyone!
I would love to have come down to see everyone, however i am expecting my other half to still be in hospital with the girls, so i doubt even i could negotiate a pass for the day!!
I'm already waiting for the list for next year

If she's in hospital can you really add anything to the expert care she'll be getting? Plus I hear they are pretty strict on visiting hours in hospitals these daysThanks everyone! Don't look now....it's the big one.
Yes, the car is back!!!
After 4 months away i went to collect today. I must give a shout out to Graham and the team at Plans who have taken what was an amateur project with more problems than running parts and delivered it all put back together. Taxed, MOT'd and Insured.
So, the project.....it started with me needing to replace a header tank....and ended, well, it hasn't yet.
I had a pretty standard N/A when i started with a cosmetic changes but only a VSE mechanically wise, The car had done 98k so i have pretty much rebuilt it ground up as you'll see over the previous pages.
For people who read this and think about doing the same....it costs a hell of a lot more than you expect. I don't see many people mentioning how much they have spent on their build...now i know why!! I would honestly say, including the engine and the final bill from Plans i have spent around £15k. So around £1k more than i paid for the car originally! therefore combine the 2 and i could have bought the 911 i wanted outright.....
....But where is the fun in that? What would i have done for the last 8 years for a Hobbie?
Obviously i have invested in big ticket items like Lotus Seats, ATS wheels, Christ Tullet Exhaust, Coupe Panels, 4 pot brakes, TMS Carbon wing...they have all added big chunks to the bill and some are not even fitted.
Mechanically the car is sound now, visually it looks a bit sh*t....4 years of the workshop and bodyparts on and off have really taken effect on it. close up it actually looks pretty ropey. Which is a shame, but the money has run out. the girls are here and are perfect so priorities change until the new year.....then it'll be respray time
The drive back was AMAZING! I forgot how loud, uncomfortable, small, cramped, difficult to see out of the car was, but i absolutely fell in love all over again the noise of the SC is epic, the exhaust is so loud its anti social, may need to look at that, the charge cooler whirs constantly, its brilliant!
i am so pleased with it, all the problems are a distant memory already. its insured ready for the odd cold day, its a totally different car to drive now so i'll be getting a Walshy day booked pretty soon as i feel i need to learn all over again!! Then next year its meets, meets and more meets!! Just want to get out and drive it.
Thanks to everyone for their help and guidance over this thread, its been invaluable Next Steps are the inevitable trip to Courtneys for the Map to be checked and adjusted, then a respray next year at some point.
looking forward to seeing you all soon, just don't judge the paint work - here's to the new year roof off action!
Jon
And just to complete the set....
