It's the location of the speakers, the front speakers add clarity without needing more volume. Haven't seen an issue with removing the vents, screen still clears quickly.

Give the man a fiver. This is the correct answer thumbsup

How is taking your dash out and fcuking around installing front speakers / cabling for front speakers easier than replacing rear speakers? 4 screws out, unclip two wires, clips two wires to new speakers, put 4 screws back in.

I'm not disputing front speakers make a significant difference. But changing the rear speakers has to be the easiest and most effective solution.

I agree that if you have the original speakers, the first thing is to pull them out and chuck them in the bin. However spending any more than £50 on the rear speakers is pointless as the sound is still coming from behind you, your ears arn't as sensitive from behind and will only pick up lower frequencies, so you'll still lose vocal resolution.

See thats the problem"vocal resolution" the man has the wrong music on, 4 big speakers behind you with plenty bant and HEAVY ROCK who gives a sh*t about vocal resolution you should just feel the music in your chest

That side of things is already taken care of ghand. Comes with having a mid engined car and and a VSE. All the music I need B) (May add some SC whine at some point though).

Thanks Goose :P It's kinda difficult to explain. Sounds signals go up and down The more the go up and down, the louder it is. This type of voltage signal is known as AC. Car battery's are fixed at 12v. This type of voltage is known as DC. So an RMS value for audio (AC) gives a roughly equivalent DC power. Not sure if that makes sense?

Replacing rear speakers took me less than 10 minutes. Its surely a no brainer as a first option?

Ffs bob haha pedant lol. Yes, change the fcuking rear speakers its a doddle. What we're saying is the biggest difference is placing some front speakers in. Moving the sound stage forward. HUGE difference. Installing new rear speakers, possibly a little difference. :D

 the standard speakers sound worse than me singing. Biggest improvement has to be replacing rear speakers for half decent ones. You get both the volume and clarity of sound (well within reason for a vx)

Like I said in my previous post no. I have changed my rears and I'm fine with what I have. I can hear it well enough. Its loud enough and I can understand the vocals. I don't need anything else in the vx.

I've done both, and I can honestly say I'd much rather spend my money on front speakers than rear.

Got to agree with Fezz (Tom) I sat in his car and it was so much better than mine. I'd already changed the rear and the headunit which was a big improvement, but front speakers make it feel like the surroudn it around you rather than behind, it was so much nicer. Mine are almost done, just waiting to a new connector. Tiger sealed last night and all fitted with new OEM+ grills in a Dave Trimmer dash. Should look and sound much better by the end of the week.

You give in to easy Bob, four big quality fcuk off speakers inches from your body and loads of power is the only way to feel the sound. Piddly little thing in the dash are for show.
Maybe ok for classical sh*t  What will you hear from a little tweeter in the dash when four 6x9s are on full bant ?

Some tweeters in the front to give you clearer 'voice sounds'

Posted Image

and a powered sub to give you low down grunt (which I find is the thing that dissapears when travelling at speed with the roof off).
