Clearance holes drilled for the rivnuts on the plate

SD are posting me out some bolts for front cage feet, I'll swap my ones out one at a time when they come.

Also told them it may aid future fitters if they enclosed an itemised fitting kit list so not only you know what should be in it but what each piece is for. They may not do it but would be handy!

Only fitted the interior pull so far.

So still need to fit the external pull, the harnesses and the electrical cutoff.
About that cutoff, going to be a pain without the right heavy duty crimper to fit it to the battery terminal. Could be interesting.

Power run this morning, 118whp with the usual Z22se richness at the top end. If I was able too I'd prob get the dutch software so I could sort the fueling out and release a few extra hp but I have nowhere to do the mapping really.

Complain about Z22SE richness but the engine is stout. You could always go Saab....

Dash refitted, nice to find I needed to take out the front cage to get it in :(
Wired up the electrical cutoff,  just waiting on the hydraulic crimper I ordered to turn up so I can cut the old pos connector off and crimp on a new one.

First race is Rockingham on the 10th September. Means the national was handy athough I should have grip now so the car will handle completely differently 😂

It wasn't too bad, you have to watch the video which you have already watched a few times as it comes with the application form. Then sit the theory test.

Section 1 is flags and you need to get 100%

The questions are in the form of statements and you write wich flag you expect to see and weather it's waved or stationary.

For example

"Slippery surface imminent" - answer "Waved yellow flag with red stripes"

The next 2 sections have 3 multiple guess questions in each. They are safety related and extremely easy, you need 100% in those too.

Section 4 is another 8 multi guess questions and you need to get 6 right. They are race weekend questions and a couple you have to think about but just go with the safest answer.

Example

You have an accident during practice or qualifying, do you:

A. Keep it quiet and still enter the race

B. Cover the damage with a sticker

C. Repair the damage

D. Ensure the scruitineers look at the car and ok it for racing

The answer is D although one guy put C as technically he needs to do that before going to the scrutineers. But they are after D.

Then a quick cuppa while they are marked and onto the practical part.

There was a 308 GTI at brands. The instructor drives first for a couple of laps then you swap over. Make sure you set the seat and mirrors to yourself.

He then said that we'll do about 10 minutes of track time while I can ask any questions and discuss track driving and getting used to the car.

Finally he said he'd watch me for a final 2 laps. I had to call out if I was going to do anything other than a normal racing line thing. I.e let a car past, obay a flag etc.

After he said he'd happily sit next to me on a grid so we went in and signed the forms.

The other 2 guys, one he said he recommends some more tuition and the other (who haddent been on track for 3 years) needed to do some trackdays to get back into it properly. He passed us all though.

One thing to note is you sign a form once your there for the hire of the track car with a £1500 excess for damage.

The less said about my opinion of the car the better.

Good to get an insight into the ARDS. Sounds relatively straight forward. Do you know what the target lap time is for Rockingham in your race class?
