Hypothetical thread time now (I'm bad with these... I had a hypothetical thread about buying a VX and ended up getting one, not to mention the threads on other forums about t5 campers and yachts) So... I have a regular 2.2na with Tullet 4-1, Larini sportscat and VSE. Great noise, not much go. A friend has a exige s1 with a supercharged honda kicking out a true 350hp... It would be nice to get close to that. Ignoring handling, braking and driver training... How much can I realistically get away with spending to get my engine and gearbox to that sort of hp capability.... I can't even change the oil myself, so it needs to be a 'drive in, drive out' affair. Cheers.

I don't think drive in drive out exists as such. New ecu, saab engine, harrop = lots. Or supercharge it for £3k or something and be happy with 250bhp and good reliability.

260bhp is about the limit for drive in drive out... £3k. For 300bhp, it's more like £7k.

260bhp is the maximum on standard internals and will set you back at least ~ 3300.00 if you got Lee and Joe to sort you out. 300bhp, is going to be many thousands more

£4k extra? Really? To be clear, I'm not saying you are wrong just interested. Thought it was more like an extra £2-2.5k from stage 2 to 3.

Harrop wise. Ask Artic Monkey why he sold his stg2 sc car and started afresh with a new NA as the cost differential make it more effective.

From standard NA to the 300BHP club you are looking at £7k. I have over £10 in my engine bay now to get the 350BHP I have.

Turbo is cheaper. Actually you could sell up, buy a turbo, stage four it and have change feom the s3sc option.

I run over 300hp in my turbo, the receipts run around £9,000 with all the parts, diff, turbo, internals, ecu, suspension, brakes, injectors and many more, good luck with the upgrade if you go ahead.

First mistake : trying to get a Lego brick to chase numbers!! I'm sure you could buy a fleet of skips though for the price that S1 cost.

All a turbo needs to hit 300bhp is more fuel and better breathing and cooling. Sure your clutch wont enjoy the experience! Paying to have it done never factors into my calculations.

Ask your mate how much he spent to get 350 with S1/Honda, and even if he bought it already done he wouldn't have had much change from 25k if its in good condition.

Cheapest way? Buy my 8k mile forged engine (good for 400bhp) and ECU currently running at 300bhp and buy the supercharger conversion components to go with it (or get Lee to fit the whole shooting match).
