Honestly, not a drop of grumpiness.

I've long since opted out of the power chase and will be down-tuning the car to somewhere south of where I am now and will finally use this B207R engine that's been sat in the garage for 2 years. I'll be using it in a 100% box standard engine guise (so no need for this uprated one), no forged this and forged that, no balance shaft delete, no lightweight flywheel, no blower cams. I'll be using the nice shiny Stage 2 pulley (I've even got a slightly larger pulley- think Stage 1.85  - than that as well but I think that might be too much of a decrease  ) that's been acting as a paperweight for a year. I'd even get rid of the Tullett if I could justify spending another penny on exhausts or face changing one ever again.

I've never really enjoyed the car at 300bhp and thought it was a much better all-round package at 250bhp (well, I still think I really preferred the delicacy and balance of it at 185bhp NA power, in all honesty). After this and a Euro tour early next summer, the car will most likely be on it's way to pastures new unless it sparks any love and can justify itself being sat in the garage for 300 days a year. Jo want's me to keep it but I'm just totally indifferent to it now - it's so bad I don't even "see" it when I go into the garage nowadays. :(

Hypothetical thread time now (I'm bad with these... I had a hypothetical thread about buying a VX and ended up getting one, not to mention the threads on other forums about t5 campers and yachts) So... I have a regular 2.2na with Tullet 4-1, Larini sportscat and VSE. Great noise, not much go. A friend has a exige s1 with a supercharged honda kicking out a true 350hp... It would be nice to get close to that. Ignoring handling, braking and driver training... How much can I realistically get away with spending to get my engine and gearbox to that sort of hp capability.... I can't even change the oil myself, so it needs to be a 'drive in, drive out' affair. Cheers.

Cheapest is to trade with someone wanting to sell a stage 4 turbo for your car and some cash. You never get your money back on tuning so cheapest way is to buy it ready done. That's how I got my stg4 however be warned a stg4 is a very different beast to an NA and not one I found a particularly rewarding or fun drive on the road once the thrill of the straight line acceleration wore of off

Depends what you class as rewarding in all fairness, if you want to use a stage 4 to its full potential on the road then I agree but that applies to a lot of fast cars on the road

Its very very rewarding on any open road but hard work on slow round town stuff, for normal knocking about the NA is far superior in every way.

You want to try tootling in the NA then. Try your stage 4 at just over 30mph in 5th   Honestly the NA is much smoother and flexible and nicer at slower speeds by a good way, its low down torque and the gearing just makes it better end of.

If your just rolling in second in the NA it just pulls smoothly away fast, the stage fours says your having a laugh get me back on the track  the NA is much more responsive low down. Have you driven one round town ? if not you should, you may want one

I'm not getting into a debate as to which is better as betters down to each individual as they all have there pro's and cons :) all I'm saying is you can tootle around in a stage 4 and drive it just like a normal car if you want to :)

You dont need 300bhp, its fun but not needed.

Driver training would be better spent

Its a hypothetical post by the way.

So he doesn't need 300 BHP but he wants 300 BHP

Now did he realize a move to a stage 4 instead would pay for itself given a very very very long time?

Thats because you get 35 to 40 more miles per tank out of the VXT stage 4  than the NA every fill.

What was I thinking.... Go for 300 +  Lots more fun!

But as above, start with a turbo to get that

The car is very much a third car. I like stupid things, so a stupidly-overpowered VX seems daft enough to appeal to me.

I have to disagree with you about the NA is more responsive low down. I have driven a few NA's around town and I can honestly say the stage 4 turbo is much more responsive in any gear.

I think Gordon is just trying to re-light his fire for his N/A now that the VXR (300Bhp) is now top dog.
