Yep - I had those in my last VX and they were pretty good.
I'm of the opinion that spending money on audio in the VX is largely wasted so this time I went for the cheaper JBL CS-6 (about £20) and I can't tell the difference from the 628s.

Go to Halfords. Buy whatever suitably sized speaker is currently on offer and who's appearance offends the least. You'll never be able to tell the difference between a £40 pair and a £150 pair in the VX, once it's moving. Sorted.

I have one going spare actually, it will need new wires as mine were chopped up getting it out.Thx all , I'll take that advice on the Halfords offers ( esp " offends the eye least" lol ) and keep my eyes peeled for a second hand powered sub to go on the bulkhead behind the seat .

What's the difference with this compared to an enclosed sub?
they're both enclosed, however the slim subs are generic designs intended to fit under seats, some fit behind VX seats. The bass isn't as good as a proper enclosure though as the volume of the enclosure is much smaller (smaller volume = unable to produce low frequencies)

And the chances are the slimline sub are active subs. I.e. they have an amp built into them.

They are mdf so fairly heavy, but the main weight is from the speaker so doesn't really make a difference.I presume there lighter?

So, did you find a half decent direct swap for the standard tweeters? This is what I'm after, but only because my higher frequency hearing is shot!

Sub behind the seats is more about recovering the lower frequencies lost with all the other noise in the car, than going chav and sharing your drumnbass with the neighbours.
Can get a decent full sized sub in if you measure for correct size I have an 8" square kicker behind my seats, the amp just fits behind the passenger seat.
Tweeters up on the dashboard, are better than the OEM position improves sound stage and pulls sound away from behind your head. Stock position is terrible, and plastic it is mounted in weak and prone to vibration.
4" in footwell might not give much directional sound but again will move perceived sound forward which will also improve sound and save you losing a heating vent on a car already struggling with window clearing.
Best solution for quality sound in the VX is headphones and a decent audio player.

I don't even have the shelf behind the seats in
not sure if I'm missing out or not. I don't see the point, tunes in the VX is like going to a football match to have a poop
