Its not been as 'fresh' as it has been this year though.... The Powertrain for this years cars is mentally complicated and different to the past fcuk knows how long so its no surprise that someone is having issues. You can't happily beat redbull if they are sitting in the corner crying, its not a real victory. Akin, as above to beating bolt when he's got a broken legI don't agree, it's a fresh start every year and they've all had the same amount of time to prepare their cars, they haven't done enough. It is all part of what makes F1 such a brilliant sport, there's more to it than just the drivers doing their bit. When it comes to Aero no other team is close to Redbull but they haven't had the reliability with their power unit this year which means they haven't had chance to do much aero work yet. Clearly they're a team with immense resources and brains so they will no doubt be competitive come Aus but it certainly spices things up. This year should see lots of different winners and other teams performing well which will be a much needed change.
Not really. Its a bit like beating usain bolt with a broken leg in a sprint raceIs anyone else taking great satisfaction in the woeful start Redbull have had lol!

Tbh that'd be fcuking amazing if they have done that to look sh*t but in reality be on form ready to rape the field. Maybe they could leave it for a couple of races then open the tapsSneaky suspicion that RB have developed an epic simulator and are hamming it up/sandbagging, letting the other teams test the engine. I hope they're not though, levelling the field. Williams seem to be riding the crest of a wave in testing

Personally, I wouldn't lose a moments sleep if Red Bull had half a season of DNF's and a second half of "limp home mode" and I'm guessing none of the other drivers/teams would either. Not like Vettel and Horner were overly bothered about tyres not working for any other teams (well until Mercedes did the Pirelli test day and there was talk of introducing different tyres) last year and decried it as a hollow victory.
Can't think of a worse combination than dodgy French and BL Midlands sourced electrickery.

Bobbo (to give him his proper 1970's unionised shop steward name) might claim Derbyshire is in the Midlands.

I thought north was above the m25. If that's the case then Scotland just got a whole load biggerThere is no such place as the midlands. Its the south, and the north. Soon to be known as England and Scotland,

I'm really worried about the whole fuel limitation thing. With the current rules, they're all going to be droning round at 75% of full speed, watching the fuel gauge. I understand the reasons for it, but it will bugger the racing. I think that they should all have to prove that they can do 5 laps at a fuel burn rate of 100 litres or whatever pro rata for the full race distance and still be within 107% of the pole lap. Then give them a max of 125 litres and let them race. That proves efficiency, but doesn't make the whole thing all about fuel consumption.
I also have a plan (for those still awake and reading and whilst I'm on my soap box) for budget limitation. Allocate a max budget for car development for all teams and require financials to prove adherence. The weakness with this is that teams can outsource development to external R&D companies or to holding companies. The solution would be to force teams that use externally developed parts to also offer those parts (or technical evaluation results etc) for sale, complete with technical documentation and proof of concept, to other teams at the same price that they pay in their own accounts. This would limit external sourcing to simple parts and would create an open market for key components.
When Bernie gets canned, I'll take over. And I'll bin double points, DRS and all the other cobblers. The commercial rights holders for football don't keep messing about with the rules to "improve the show". Motor sport is a great show in its purest form. No need to screw with it.

The issues wit parts is where a company makes them inhouse... eg a lump of ali might cost £5 but then have £10000000 of machining and man hours spent on it, which you just bury in labour time etc. So what might be available on the open market for £10K would actually only cost the team £10 I know its how business works but its a way round a budget cap (its how formula stupid, oops student, got round it)
The fuel limit thing isnt a biggie for me really, its a MAX limit and I doubt many tracks will have that much where a car can use 100Kg/Hour of fuel (bear in mind that will be in the order of 10000Kg of air per hour consumed, which is a huuuuuuuuuuge quantity of power) for long, so they should be a fair way off the delivery limiter for most of a lap anyway. The delivery limit is just a cunning way to reduce peak IC generated power without actually saying its a power limit.
