You think their gods are imaginary, and they think your God is imaginary. The following quote from Stephen F. Roberts sums up the situation very nicely: "I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours." A rational person rejects all human gods equally, because all of them are equally imaginary. How do we know that they are imaginary? Simply imagine that one of them is real. If one of these thousands of gods were actually real, then his followers would be experiencing real, undeniable benefits. These benefits would be obvious to everyone. The followers of a true god would pray, and their prayers would be answered. The followers of a true god would therefore live longer, have fewer diseases, have lots more money, etc. There would be thousands of statistical markers surrounding the followers of a true god. Everyone would notice all of these benefits, and they would gravitate toward this true god. And thus, over the course of several centuries, everyone would be aligned on the one true god. All the other false gods would have fallen by the wayside long ago, and there would be only one religion under the one true god. When we look at our world today, we see nothing like that. There are two billion Christians AND there are more than one billion Muslims, and their religions are mutually exclusive. There are thousands of other religions. When you analyse any of them, they all show a remarkable similarity -- there is zero evidence that any of these gods exist. That is how we know that they are all imaginary.

Not only are Christians killing Muslims and vice versa, but Christians are killing Christians and Muslims are killing Muslims, because although they worship the same God/Allah many are worshiping the wrong way.

All that blurb Mark is saying what I was saying a few pages back. Nearly all religious folk follow on from what they grow up with. Like I said Casino and Zubber would have different gods now if they had swapped parents as kids. So it's the luck of the draw who got the parents with the true God

Not quite the same as one lot throw you off a roof top if your Gay, stone you to death if your a naughty female and just generally kill you if you try to leave and the others sing a lot but I get your drift. Similar to Pascal's wager isn't it? Anyway, the second of the christian/Judaism ten commandments says something about Thou shalt have no other gods before me - so you'd be f**ked if that was the right one. In fact - thats an interesting commandment for the one and only great almighty god to come up with really. Bit jealous.. of some other gods that in theory this god should know aren't there cos this one is the only one..

Doesn't work that same god bit. Christians go for the trinity, god the farther, god the son and god the Holy Spirit. Islam just has Allah. Not compatible I'm afraid. So if God exists half the world population or billions of people are barking up the wrong tree. Well that's how I see it but I have been known to be wrong Maybe Casino can confirm or explain better.

Billions is a huge number down here. It's a different scale all together with God. p*ss in the ocean . Not to say they don't matter. Far from it. God loves all his making, it's just that you need to go through JC if you want to reach God. Read it in the Bible if you think I'm joking you. And as usual the passage of 2000+ years allows for quite a lot of ...sway... In what's really true. Comes back to the original question of Belief. Not helping much ? Still got the fence up my crack? I don't blame you for scoffing. ..if you're told about God and you choose to p*ss on everything you're told well God will judge you for it when yer times up. Quite what that means I can't say. All I can say is that yer time will be up and you could find yourself having to explain why. All God wants is a little respect and trust. He ain't asking you to walk round in sack cloth.
