Cheers slindy. Although everything seems to be pointing towards the APP sensor at the moment. Will go through all the other points mentioned before forking out for a new one though.£10 says its not the throttle pedal remove (CAREFULLY!!!!!) the plugs on the ECU and check for corrosion. there have been cases where the pins corrode off completely so watch out.

Quick update. Ivan helped me out with his OBD II and proper electrical contact spray. He managed (where me and Steve failed) to prize apart the black loom of doom connector. There was definite signs of corrosion around couple the pins so cleaned and magic sprayed them. Re cleaned the blue connector and throttle body connector then once more into the foot well and did the accelerator pedal connector again, all with the contact cleaner spray. Ivan cleared the fault code and it started, and accelerator worked. Turned if of and on several times, still worked. Success
Ivan followed me home and the EML came on but no limp mode . Cleared it again. Currently having a cuppa while typing this then going out for an hour to see what happens.
Definitely seems contact related. Will report back.

So, just back from a blast. Warmed it up, took it to the red line in every gear up to 4th. Tried sudden throttle inputs to try and trigger the fault. So far, so good...

Find a small pot hole and drop a wheel in it. If it doesn't trigger the fault then you should be good. So, just back from a blast. Warmed it up, took it to the red line in every gear up to 4th. Tried sudden throttle inputs to try and trigger the fault. So far, so good... Team Crab-Acid-Booze FTW!

You figure out what had been done to the wiring at the black and blue connector in engine bay?
