Castle nut is the large nut with split pin through it behind centre of wheel

If the castle nut was loose  , then bearing would be noisy all the time and then play in the wheel guaranteed .

Mine has no constant noise , passenger rear side has just a very little play .

Anyone north/west could have a drive the car and indentify the sound ?

Cheers , thanks very much for all replys . :)

Now interesting part , the knock was from O/S/R track rod end  ... car was in the garage for the GEO recently  and these guys didn't tight the the nut proper , left it quarter turn loose   :D  the funny part  , when i checked for a play it was ok , only position it would knock when the car on the 4poster ramp and you push the car up slightly using  right engine mount bracket .
