Hi All,

I have just bought a 230BHP VXT and absolutely love it (I previously had the 2.2 NA a while ago) The only thing is it is not quite quick enough for me at the moment and want to get it up in BHP bit by bit. 250 then 275 then 300 maybe and I would think at that it will be plenty and any more would prob. be wasted and make it too much a hold on and prey car. Which I dont want.

Has anyone got any spare bits they are looking to sell to help me on my way???

Current set up:  I have a full Milltek system with de cat pipe, stage 1 re map,  AP brakes (are these std on VXT?) 16" 17" Compo speedline wheels.

Thanks for taking the time to read! Please let me know via TEXT message if possible as I dont go on the computer very often.

Cheers

Tim

If you've already got a full Milltek why would you only have a stage 1 map on there ?

You've got all you need for stage 2 just by changing the map. 250/260bhp.

Road or track use ??

Cheers Write stuff. Well I thought it was stage 2 as that is what the add said The 1st rolling road some years ago after map said 233.4 bhp the recent one last month shows just 219BHP and 192 BHP at wheels so seems more stage 1? Courtneys suggest stage 1 is 230 bhp

Mix of road and Track but the BHP is more for the track use.

Lol I have had plenty of TVR Cerbera's and Tuscan's type cars and hated them for that! I want it to be quick but not too mad. :tt:

As ever, stage tuning doesn't work. There are no fixed numbers for the stages. If you want to wind up with oodles of power, sod wasting money on the steps and make the big jump

If you believe in stages then check Courtney sports website who outline the basic gubbins for each.

233bhp is low for a stage 2. Maybe you have a very old (TMS?) map on there.

It gets a lot more expensive once you get past stage2, and a lot more unreliable if you track it.

stage1   = remap

stage1+ = stage1 + std exhaust precat removed

stage2   = stage1 + full after market exhaust

stage3   = stage2 + uprated intercooler or chargecooler + uprated clutch (probably)

stage4   = stage3 + VXR turbo + uprated actuator + uprated injectors + lightened flywheel

I fancy 250 BHP to start and take it from there. If I modify my airbox will the current setup including my full 2.5" Milltek go to 250bhp with just the map? OR more? When does the turbo need changing?

Stick with around 250hp if you don't want something to mad. I'd look at the handling side of things first I.e suspension/brakes before you take the big step personally :)

Yes the airbox gets modified at stage1+ or stage2. At least if you take it to MMG anyway.

Stage 1 - just remap to usually 220 bhp Stage2- full miltek exhaust an remap Stage3- courteany an Thorney are both different ? Stage4- exhaust , Vxr turbo , upgraded injectors , upgrade clutch , charge cooler or intercooler upgrade, etc

Make it stop, make it handle, make it go.

For track use you should prioritise decent pads/tyres, shocks+arb+geo over more bhp.

Thanks for that. Then I guess I need to book a remap to try for 250 bhp. I have a new genuine clutch and master fitted at a VX dealer in the last 3k so that should help cope with a few more bhp

My car is a stage 2 but running around 220BHP now according to the last Dyno (Thorney) after it went there for service and cambelt 4 months ago.
