It may depend on which injectors and fuel pressure you are running. CS upped the fuel pressure on smaller injectors. The power run with your wide band will show if it is running out of fuel.

Walbro 255 should be capable of a lot more than 310...

(Only if you up the pressure above stock, most pumps will have a hard time)

My brand new (last year) OEM one, in new canister, is completely silent. And is fine for 265hp.

comparing old OEMs to new (even though they are shitty) is not a good comparison.

Chris is on about running 350+ bhp so the Oem is not good enough for the job. My walbro 455 fuel is a bit louder but you soon forget about the noise after a while.

Isn't there a modification to make the pump quite by spitfire engineering?

He uses a different, quiet, pump in his modifications.

Sytec Gt400 pump more than upto the job and very sensible cost. You do need to mod casing very slightly and you HAVE to retain oem filter Oh an grind off extruding metal nipple which is used on other filter. Oem don't fit it left ;) Also happy with duty cycle which was very important on direct fuel injection tfsi conversations. Normal turbo pump which was happy at 360's was on its arse same power on audi setup let alone moe 6.6bar oem fpr the reason and way the pump is ran hence need to cope with duty cycle DG

True, but it is the installation that causes most of the noise issues with simple Walbro pump swaps.

Don't forget a lot of these Walbro installations also have fuel starvation problems when cornering, clearly that is a disfunction of the refill system which is pump powered.

The OE pumps seem to be Ok up to 280 ish depending upon rail pressure, if you are close to maxing the pump out you could try to measure the voltage at the pump itself, if under 12.3-12.5 a heavier cable direct from the fuse box should give a significant increase in output, about 5-10% that may get you out of labour intensive pump swap.

:)

oem pump fine as a low pressure lift pump , then a bosch 044 for your application 3 - 4bar

or you could adapt it and go returnless

:yeahthat:  As quick fix I rewired my old OEM pump directly from alternator/startermotor with a thicker cable + relay. => 14.4 volt and still OK-ish for my mild Harrop build with 3.0 bar rail pressure.

(The starvation in left handers is a totally different fuel problem and too big a pump is not helping here. And heats up the fuel...)

The starvation is caused by the educter pump which is rather ironic as it's job is to achieve just the opposite  :)

It also causes a lot of the noise with a swapped Walbro install.

:)
