I think I will just carry on then with my Eicher , narrow airgap ventilated discs. Never had a problem, even at Silverstone when I got them so hot you could see the vanes through the outer wall.

Unsprung and rotational weight reduction makes a difference. Removing 15 kilos weight there you can compare to 100 or more of 'normal' weight savings.

But what benefit does that translate into. Sure it may knock 3 tenths of a second off your lap time but as 99.9% of people on here do not competitively race (or have the required equipment needed to measure the improvement), what is the point? There is nothing to win, and would you really enjoy your day any more by gaining those few tenths?

Oh yes. Are not about 20-40% of all of us on this forum working and puzzeling on how to get their cars faster? Chargers and turbos on the NA and stage 1234+ on the turbos.... Weight tuning does pay off. Try driving some lightweight wheels for a change and you'll fall in love with the handling. But there is a category that is interested most in the looks of the car and wheels. Those would not be bothered with weight or handling optimization and certainly not interested in the .3 seconds gain as they'll never see a track. Disagree on the percentage though. Think most of us really care about road handling.

But £ vs performance it is much cheaper to add power (to a point)

I have 13" wheels, not sure I can get any lighter without going with very exotic and expensive materials :)

You are right. But long term it should not make much difference in CF Freno or high- end APs as wear is almost zero. At least that is what I tell myself....

Hmmm, these are expensive but look nice, £4,341.96 for full set of discs and pads. Anyone used them?

I'm not going to buy them, my brakes are better than me. Just interested if anyone has experienced them.

I was sorely tempted when the seloc group buy came up until I did the homework. Freno are stopping production of them so it's the last chance and the group buy are being delivered now so may be to late. I spoke to Chris at CAD Motorsport and Andy at QMech who both advised against it (and both know they're stuff). The problem is the car is too light to really get heat into the brakes and they will be crap when cold. Also someone on Seloc claimed to have used around 60% of the pads in one race weekend. So you may not get more than 7-10 TDs from them which makes them really expensive! The weight savings appealed but the standard eurocarparts lotus discs are a good bit lighter anyway.

Doesn't sound worthwhile then even if you have the money.

Each to their own etc but I would rather put the money into standard discs, high end pads and fluid, and some CAT training on how to brake properly! :)
