Well I just spoke to Classicline again and have accepted cover with them.

Euro trackday extra cost may not be ideal, but as I'm getting married this year I suspect I won't have much time (or money) to go do anything like that very often if at all.

Very easy to deal with though, and answer their phone promptly.

Thanks for all the above feedback guys.

Just got my CCI renewal quote this morning. 6000 miles limit and £270 so don't see much point in calling CL, particularly if the CL policy is a classic policy which doesn't accrue NCB. Fell for that one a few years ago with Heritage. When circumstances changed and I moved away from them you then realise how much a classic policy can hurt!

To be fair Paul, had CCI not upped my laid up renewal from around £180 to £240 I would just have renewed on spot (though they also had the car listed as a Vx220 turbo despite the mods list saying it had a supercharger...).

Had my quotes been sub £300 like yours then it would have been different story. Have to say that I've only had decent service from CCI so far, so no complaints. It's come down to price and circumstances in this instance. Who knows, maybe I'll be back with CCI next time.

Classic line will provide proof of no claims if you moved to them with some. Also if you have another car you can sometimes mirror the no claims from that.

Do you not have insurance with no claims on another car? Is the VX your main daily transport?

Pace ward for me and have done for the last 4 years. I'm just paying slighlty under £500 which I think is not bad for my age and the modifications that are on my car.

^^^^^^ yeah that. You don't accrue but you retain your no claims. When I insured a second car through them, tjey wouldnt mirror the NCB, but gave me the same level of discount (I.e. 75%) and an initial 3 years NCB on the new policy. That's because they use a different underwriter for non-classic policies and so you can accrue NCB on those.

I had a claim with CCI on my old turbo, they were fantastic. I'll be staying with them next year for sure (so long as they are as cheap as CL!).

HIC worked out pretty cheap for me - full mods declared etc. and price matched a Direct Line quote for a standard car.

Had company cars as main car for years then the 4 years as an expat scuppered any chance of getting NCB on the record of driving company cars. My VX insurance was with Heritage on a classic policy which doesn't accrue NCB (found that out when it was too late). Heritage didnt want the business since their underwriters had changed and CCI were the only company when I returned to the UK who were sympathetic and allowed me a bit of NCB in addition to introductory discount. Others were quoting £1000+ Happy with my renewal with CCI since I still haven't accrued full NCB and the track days at Spa and Paul Ricard will be covered FOC under their normal TD cover.

Nick, I believe that they have an engine modding limit of 50% increase over standard bhp to keep a reasonable premium. Over that and the loading increases significantly. Also I don't have commuting on my policy

I just tried Classicline and am wondering if I have the same company that you're using: http://www.classicli...surance-quotes/

They didn't include track day cover and wanted £250 MORE than my renewal quote from Greenlight. Sticking with Greenlight for the 3rd year running as the usual companies just don't seem competitive for me :(

I think for the purposes of insurance I might put mine back to default power levels for road use. Its a 4 minute job to switch over.

That's really odd. I'm with them specifically cos they include track days, have option of agreed final value and modifications.

The classicline policy included trackdays organised by the club that I was a member of (.org) but not standard days - I questioned about MSV and they said it wouldnt be included :(

Maybe it's a location thing

I've gone with Greenlight now as they've offered a good price for the last few years and I can add trackdasys as needed for £35 each time with the excess the same as the road policy (£250), which seems like a reasonable deal to me.

That seems like a decent deal too.
