Yes, i prefer the black, so im guessing il be taking the drivers one off tomorrow to paint again. Oh well, was going to be one that needed repainting. Also started to relocate the red wire that runs from the inertia switch, and did run up the metal barce that attaches to the top of the roll bar. Hiding that in the loom of doom cable tidy stuff. Cleaned up more CV grease from cables and plugs and sub frame.

Been away with work for a week, and had other things to do. However, Sunday Steve (Coople) dropped off the Turbo Milltek back box that he bought, as he only wanted the downpipe. After an initial scare while the NA Milltek was on the car, and looked different to the Turbo one, its all semi bolted up now. The tips are in alot better condition than my NA one, so will polish them up at some point. Though the welding on it and the hangers leaves alot to be desired. NA Milltek on the bottom

Love the thread welded on, guessing thats to hold it flat during manufacture. Also like that 45degree support rod is nowhere near, and they just fill the gaps with weld.

Also took my manifold heatshield off, as sourcing a replacement. Didnt like the big rusty hold and the rusty bolt that 'held' it in place

Need to bend the hanger that I photo'd a little more, as it is at too much of an angle, and nowhere near fitting at 90degree's, more like 45. Marked up where to bend it (Just where that black mark is towards the end), so will do that today.

Also, im told that rusty rivets and rusty manifold studs are normal.

May paint the manifold, but not sure if i should try to remove the studs. Iv got a Piper manifold on there at the moment, but thinking i may paint or wrap it.

Ordered replacement exhaust manifold studs last night, so job for this morning was removing the old ones, which id soaked in GT85 yesterday. Because of the Piper Manifold, i had to remove some of the nuts first, then remove the manifold, then the studs. Some of the nuts were so rusty, they actually undid the studs, which was handy. The remainder came out really easy, which was nice. Though the manifold looks like it has cracked a weld a little, so will be trying to sort that out before refitting it all.
Also noticed a black mark on the water pipe by the exhaust, wondering if that has come from a leak in the manifold, or the joint, anyone any idea?

Removed the battery, which was fun, and found some splits in the heater box, as well as a bit missing around the screw that holds the main duct in, so il be having to repair that then.

Was a little worried it was coming from the manifold, but someone just pointed out that if it was coming from that, then there would be a black mark around the leaking area. So hoping some gasket paste and tighten the bolts up will do it. The bolts were not very tight holding the downpipe to the manifold.

Well had abit of an investigate of the exhaust again today, and could see light through some areas when a torch was put against the suspect area, so thatl be cracked then.

Also got my heaterbox out, though it didnt survive in one piece, as any sort of pressure resulted in it being in multiple pieces.

Cleaned up the area where the battery and heater box sat though, so thats good. Just need to remove some black sticky stuff. Assuming some foam was here at some point.

Getting it welded back up, hopefully that will hold it. Talking to some fab guys, looks like the welding was not a great standard, so that has not helped the situation. Will see if that does the job. Failing that, il get it replicated buy a company to a higher standard.
