Getting it welded back up, hopefully that will hold it. Talking to some fab guys, looks like the welding was not a great standard, so that has not helped the situation. Will see if that does the job. Failing that, il get it replicated buy a company to a higher standard.

I'd say there would be a big order coming your way if you do that. Just wait for the list to start.

£200 manifolds anyone??

ps, would be interested if you could make more.

I know a few companies that make exhausts, and as we have one as a start, it shouldnt be too difficult to replicate, but depends on costs i suppose. I know the Tullet ones are £500+

Well got it all welded up yesterday, will cost me beer, but thats not so bad. I know its totally pointless, but also painted it. I had to media blast it for the fab boys anyway, so thought i nay as well do it all and then paint it.

Slow couple of days, but replaced my belt tensioner, which was an easy job, and painted a new heatshield and part of my old one, along with the driveshaft shield, just for the hell of it really, i know that they wont make any difference. Though i may paint the heatshields black, im a little unsure at the moment.

Another crack found in the manifold post paint, so another job for the welders. Picked up a newish heater from Vocky, which im going to strip down and seal up and try to make better. Not fussed about upgrading more than that, as its a summer car anyway. Also got The Batman to install me a consumer unit in the garage, so tonight il be finishing up wiring the 6 batten lights in the garage, so i can properly start to work on the VX with the doors closed, asits getting cold now.

Apparently there are some washers missing either side of this bush, on both sides of the car.

Well with the clam off, it would be rude not to paint the hinge for the bonnet and the toe bracket.

Now all the lighting in the garage is finally sorted, iv started to strip the suspension off the car. Got a little cocky though, and separated the upright from the ball joint when i hadnt totally undone the nut. Result was not being able to undo the nut because the spline of the ball joint just spins. New ball joints have a shaped top for exactly this reason.

Stripped the suspension off, and gave it a good clean up though, and its come up pretty well.

Great progress.  I have horrible memories of doing a suspension refresh; ending with a broken finger!

Luckily, the nuts and bolts are mostly ok, as it was rebushed a while back, with what turns out to be Super Pro bushes. Rear LH was stripped this morning with no issues. So far the only issue has been the front left, which was my fault more than anything else. Just need to source a couple of bushes now, as have a couple that are damaged. Got to get the ball joints out the wishbones, but after that they can be painted and put back..

Managed to get the rear LH side stripped this morning, so the RH side will be tomorrow. Took the wishbone/upright combo into work and managed to get the stuck nut off. Used a large press to push the upright back onto the spline, then brute force to remove the nut. Removed the ball joints, which seemed a shame, as they were fairly new, but the powder coating of the wishbones requires it. Looking at the damper mounts at the front, and wondering if I can powder coat or plate them, would be noce to have them shiny.

Thanks, that would be good if you dont anything for them. I think the tollerance is too tight to have them powder coated, but i may paint them, or get them plated

These are already plated.  I did them when I refreshed my suspension but I now have nitron mounts.  The ABS side one is new, never used but it's one from Gaz not an OEM one.  I'll look them out.  If you don't hear anything pester me as I'll have forgotten.

ETA: new oem ones are about 16 quid a side and come plated if I can't find them.
