Just looking at the specs for the DS2500 - they don't appear to be any better than the Mintex 1155 pads I already have.

I was looking at the Pagids - again the RS42 (blues) also don't appear to be better - have I got this right?

I understand that M1155 don't work well from cold so should not be used on the road. I don't know much about he pagid. Here is a link about the Mintex:

http://www.retro-uk....mintex_pads.htm

My friend uses Ferodo DS2500 on his S2000 and says they wear quickly but are good from cold with little fade on track, they still fade a bit though but maybe this is the best compromise whilst still suitable for the road.

oh noes, don't say that, the OP will cry

He maybe will if he realises the DS2500 etc. are technically road illegal anyway on the stock calipers due to ECE R90

Are they? That's something I'm ignorant about. I haven't bought any yet, thanks for letting me know.

I have Pagid RS42's after killing a set of road bias mintex on a track day. I put in new RS42's front and rear plus fresh fluid and the brakes are amazing! They havent faded on track, even when really pushing on or doing extended sessions. They're good on the road from cold and mine dont squeal. I did replace all pins/anti squeal pads when they were fitted so that might help with the noise. With regard to performance when cold, its easy to think they arent very good when cold because the performance when warm is so good but in reality mine seem as good as standard pads when cold.

When I chose these i was put off the CL pads because of the de-laminating issue. When I fitted the Pagid my friend in an Elise S2 fitted some  Mintex 1144, we've done the car limits day, a few road trips and two bedford track days and his pads have 2mm left, mine are about 1/3rd worn plus offer better performance.

I havent used any other upgraded pads so cant comment on others but for me these are well worth the cash.

Lot of different opinions when it comes to pads. Some people have squeal and others don't from the same pad, odd, maybe it's down to how you install them.

Reading about them they sound pretty good. What discs are you using?

Im using standard pagids i think

3 trackdays done now

still a bit of meat on the pads(runs outside to check)

I think changing the fluid is key to good brakes

Agreed, good fluid is probably more important as wet fluid normally boils before brakes fade, but organic OEM brakes still get soft when hot. How many laps do you do before you let them cool down?

Saying that, the Pagid RS42 are organic so probably more to it than that.

Fluid use something like Motul 660 , Braided brake lines help.

Reading about them they sound pretty good. What discs are you using?

I've got EBC grooved and drilled/dimpled. They came on the car and were nearly new so they stayed on, they are good and not to expensive, havent used standard discs so cant comment on how much of an improvement they are.

I know the pads I use are really expensive, the discs are more expensive than standard to, but I wouldnt change from either of them. The pads show no sign of fade on track (20-30 min sessions) which is the main reason I got them.

I was tempted to try some track spec mintex etc as they are half the price but if they turn out to be crap i'll be £120 down. Its not worth the risk now I've got a good set up. Same with CL's, i would like to try them as they seem as good as pagids but they are known for coming of the backing, I didnt deem it a risk worth taking.

Apparently these will fit the VX220, seems like a cheap way to get Pagid RS4-2 pads?

Pagid are a good choice - not the cheapest but they do the job.

I've been using the RS14's but they're another step towards track than the 42's. They work perfectly from cold, the dust isn't corrosive but they do rattle and squeal a bit. The pay off is that they will stand more track abuse.

are you using the 14's in both the front and back?  If so any issues with bias?
