Email for SELOC - "Bedford GT Circuit - Saturday 30th October - Open Pit Lane run by Palmer Sports own staff as all the other days are at Bedford. Limit = 100 cars rather the the normal 115. Although this shows a normal price of £199 this will be £150 when you click 'book place'. Book thru this link - http://www.easytrack.co.uk/seloc

Looks like good candidate for 1st track day in the R!! thumbsup

How does 100 cars compare to most other track days? Also, anyone know if instruction is available?

100 is OK at Bedford as it being held on the GT circuit and that is a big track.

Instruction is available according to Easytrack at 30 quid a go.

Go on....do it...you know it makes sense!

Hmm, seriously thinking about it  I know Bedford is a good circuit for beginners, what with there being little to hit, but would it be better to go for a sessioned day as a first track day?

Jim, you'll be fine mate - honestly. After a couple of sessions you'll wonder what you were worried about. You'll almost certainly be able to get instruction (usually free on your first seloc day).

Loads of room at beds for 100 cars and for run off without damage (puntos permitting!)

Go for it! - I can have a look at your zorst then aswell.

That does scare me though - with the cost of even a minor bump running easily into 4 figures

Sounds to me like you're pretty nervous about this Jim? ...no offence I'm thinking you're probably better off not doing a track day if you really are that worried. We've tried to reassure you, but you're right - it could be very expensive if it goes tits-up. Personally, I think your car is more likely to be damaged sitting in Tesco's carpark.

I'm not overly nervous about being on track - nervous yes, but probably not more so than most other people on their first time. I've been out with several people on different track days and always felt safe. The only near miss I've seen was caused by an idiot trying a stupid overtaking manouevre, which I know is very unlikely. Perhaps I love my car too much? But then I know I'm not making the most of it if I don't take it out on track! Credit card's sitting there waiting... ;)

Having just had a fabulous week zooming along roads over the Yorkshire Dales, I'm thinking about a first trackday. Is this a good one for beginners?

150 is average - elvington is usually 99 but will eat 50 in tyres. Bedford is a excellent place for a 1st timer - take your time, get instruction, let people pass and dont let the red mist descend when you see an elise ;) Now, when i see a S2 exige.... rallly :D
