The head of Honda's F1 program resigned after the 1st day of testing. That says a lot about the reality of where Mclaren are.

Is it not an interim engine though? Rumours of a skunkworks parallel engine project that the f1 team never knew about.
That sounds far too optimistic. I understand the teams not pushing for ultimate lap times now, but you need to be performing this reliability testing with the right engine, heat rejection of components is critical so it makes no sense to use a different engine.
