I've searched and read loads of reviews, forum posts and opinion seems to be split. Toyo t1r seems have too softer tyre walls and the ku31 seems a better option. Does the light vx suffer with soft walls? I'm looking for a set for mainly b road blast when sun's out including cold mornings so need something than can work without having to get above 7 degrees. I'm after 195/50r16 and a 225/45r17. Front seems the problem hence the initial look at toyo. Now seem to favour the kumho. Any advice through use or an alternative of similar price bracket.

I have KU39 on the rear and they have been fine. The older KU31 also had good reviews. Many hate the T1R as it can make the car feel less precise but this was ment to improve as the tyres scrubbed in. I think most high performance road tyres (XL are preferred) will be generally fine but tyres do seem to be quite a personal thing.

If you want mainly fast road use but could also handle track and will give good life etc I'd look at the Yoko AD08R.

If I sad buying Road only, I'd stick to the premium brands. The conti sport 2 is available in the right sizes: http://www.camskill....:_2_Noise:_72dB http://www.camskill....:_2_Noise:_72dB

Thanks for the info but after searching for front tyres I found matching rears not avaliable in kumho ku31. Looking at yokohama v105, possibly.....

Hi Danger,

Another Derby owner...

Anyway my advise would be to be wary of some of the less well known Yoko's, I had some Yoko tyres that were supposedly summer tires - they had very little grip.

AD08 are a great road and track tyre, the R version is getting good reviews.

I have been searching for the holy grail of cheap tyre with awesome grip but it has not worked out. I suspect I will be trying AD08R next time.

Kindly, Paul

I've got Hankook somethings (Ventus prime possibly), 195/225. I decided to try cheap tyres when I got my Team Dynamics wheels, £280 fitted, they've been pretty good. Better overall grip than the Bridgestones, and not bad on the track. They tend to overheat after a few laps, but I think this is because I'm not letting the pressure out.

Might try AD08s next time.

Thanks for those replies. I've been searching and searching still. Wheels turn up soon so need some rubber! Ad08 look a great tyre with good reviews. The advan sport v105 also comes high up there and is on yokos site as it's flagship tyre. Found em for £250 a set so may give em a try for that money. Thanks again.

V105 is not the same level as the AD08R in terms of compound and performance.

Another vote for AD08's here (but bear in mind that my feedback comes from use in dry and mainly warm weather)

I've ran ad08r over winter and they are very sure footed in cold/wet considering there intended use. Won't be as good as a normal premium road tyre in such conditions (conti sport etc) but on the dry/warm days.. :D :D Tibbles on here also fitted some recently and is very pleased also. You cant get 195 fronts but the isn't a big tyre.

Thanks for the help and information. After loads of tyre sites visited the 195/50r16 was the one I was struggling to find a matching rear. In the end I've gone for the yokohama advan sport v105. Looks to be a great premium tyre with rewards from EVO and other mags. I'll see how they go as an all-rounder and stick some info up when fitted.

That must be a new tyre option in 195/50/16 then..?

If so thats good!

I use Goodyear Eagle F1 Asym 2 (but 205/45/16 fronts) which are a very good road tyre, albeit with softish side walls (good communication and wet grip though!)
