Are there any other cars out there with the deadly toe link design? :-/

It seems to be a Lotus issue and even then only on the Elise series, we have just been given a V6 toe link which has buckled, it's only 3 months old but take a bit of a whack.

At some level this must have been designed in, probably not to protect the subframe as is the usual assumption I suspect it is more the frangibility designed to protect the drivers cell. The uprated parameters we work to are quite specific.

:)

First time I actually pushed my speedster (last summer) I was suprise I actually missed the braking point. (In my civic I allways braked too early) But I guess my 2 Chanel ABS is the reason for this. So an upgrade to a 4 Chanel will come soon.

The ABS problem is not the intrusion of the ABS itself but for some reason when switched on you can get a hard pedal when hitting the brakes. On mine it is very noticeable but only on track. It may be to do with the very quick transition from hard acceleration to hard breaking that you are unlikely to do on the road.

Disabling the ABS at the front right wheel seems to cure it. Fitting a switch in that wire is a easy job. I tend to have ABS on on the road but off on track.

I get the opposite in that I get a soft pedal. If I'm braking and I go over a bump that's when it happens. Result is the same in that you lose brakes. Come off and then back on and normal service is resumed, that's if you're not in the gravel.

Like any mid engined car on or above the limit of adhesion, you'll need to be precise, quick & decisive with your inputs through the wheel & also be able to adjust the weight transfer of the car via the pedals. Once you've mastered this, it's a very safe & easy car to drive fast, no matter how much or little power you have.

I see a lot run 17" rear and 16" front TD. Is this normal then? As I know Porkers run smaller front wheels occasionally, but ok for the VX220 then? It looks like it will be a 2.2 and charger for me. As 240bhp seems perfect, and the power delivery seems much better. I had a turbo MR2 years and years ago, and that was fun to drive! Lol. But the only thing mid engine and RWD I think I've had.

16/17 is normal as it gives better tyre choice. And TD's are cheap and pretty light for the monies.

I was always going to go TD 1.2 anyway, so good that everyone runs them!
