Had this done to mine on Saturday by Chris at John Seal.  I cover that here http://www.vx220.org...11#entry1902915

Couple of pointers-

I bought the spurious Zafira stalk from Ebay.  It doesn't contain the dip/full beam switch.  As the cruise functionality is in the stalk itself, Chris built a hybrid VX/Zafira stalk that works.

The Op-com switch is in the VX220 menu (enable/disable cruise toggle?)

I supplied a Z20LET loom plug, which Chris removed the connectors from.

Other than that, it's as simple as four wires from stalk to ECU and add a live feed.  Works perfectly.  Three buttons, 'R' is 'reduce' or 'resume' depending upon whether cruise is engaged.  The cruise disengages instantly when the clutch is touched (way before drive is interrupted).  The speed build up on 'resume' appears controlled (i.e. the ECU doesn't apply full throttle to increase speed)

I've 1000 miles to cover in the next week.  It'll be well used.

Anyone got access to a 2.2 in an Astra / zafira to try and reverse engineer for NA's?

So how much did it cost to installed with all parts etc... And does Chris reckon it can be done to the NA?

I am sure its possible if the ECU is the same as the Astra. Just a little more faff as you need to add and wire in the clutch switch in addition to the work required on the tubby.

Cost wise, £200 labour, £14 stalk and whatever a scrap loom would cost.

Oh, and thanks ayresyy for working it out, I owe you a pint.

I'm pretty confident that i can do these on the n/a vx, but i will be doing this on mine first just to make sure. :) a lot of it depends if Opcom has the option to enable the cruise control etc, which im pretty sure it does, i just need to check. will keep you posted.

Might be a silly question but if the clutch switch releases the cruise by cutting the feed to the stalk and the NA doesn't have it would you not be able to just use the brake switch to do the same job?...

Better check with Peter as well in case his firmware alters things on OBDTuner equipped ECU's.

I would go for this at the prices quoted.  I'm currently waiting for an OEM cruise control unit & switch unit for my Elgrand, it's coming from Australia.  No ECU programming needed, just insert a box of tricks into the electronic throttle, two or three wires to the steering wheel and a wire soldered, cost is AUD$730 without the fitting but having seen the instructions it looks straightforward.

Sounds good to me, if you want an NA other than your's feel free to come and collect mine, it needs a drive

Does anyone make alloy stalks that have cruise control too?

AFAIK the N/A 2.2 VX220 ECU software image as standard lacks the cruise-control functions/code. Vauxhall/Opel/GM deleted those for the VX/Speedster use. They never seemed to have bothered with doing the same with the Motronic in the turbo though.

If the ECU is re-flashed with an Astra 2.2 image (or an Astra 2.2 ECU fitted) it would/will work with a brake and clutch switch added, but it will throw some (non fatal) fault codes/MIL about some missing interconnects/signals like A/C and power steering.

Not sure if Peter has put any work in transplanting the cruise-control code in his OBDTuner codebase.

Bye, Arno.

Thanks, where have you found the pins for the ecu connector ?

I took 3 pins out of an old 1.2 corsa loom ecu plug as it has the same connector.

What other car models (besides those with the z20let and the old corsa 1.2) use the same connectors? Anyone know?

Motronic plugs are generic across cars
