.....cannot think why

Being an optimistic sort, I thought I could still save it but it's turning to dust in my hands

....and just to complete things the 'heater improvement mod' was a bean tin shoved into the outlet duct...

.....not the first food packaging themed repair I've found if you remember the drinking chocolate hose joiner.

I fashioned mine with parts from T7designs. I did have a Fez heater to inspire me and give ideas on sizing and holes but using your oem as a template, its not too expensive nor difficult.

Nice handy work there whoever first did that Buchos! Perhaps you have opened a "can" of worms there. We have all "beans" there 😊 Jon

I have a new one to go in my car so the old one will be spare. All patched up but it's in one piece. You're welcome to it but it'll be summer before my level of arsedness achieves 'can be' levels! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks FLD, but I'll miss all the fun in the snow if I don't sort it sooner :)

What's the metal box made of?... If SS, then protect the Alu, If it's Alu, then use BZP bolts thumbsup

EDIT to add... and use BZP to bolt it to the Alu in any case!

It's raw aluminium at the minute, finished units will be anodized silver or black. I assemble everything with ACF50 usually, not familiar with using BZP. This is a trial only :)

I've read all the heater threads lol, sadly I was between VXs when Fez brought his amazing heater out and missed it. To be clear this isn't my work I'm just trying it out and changing how some parts fit to make it as simple to fit as possible.

Sorry... probably a bit of teaching to suck eggs from me there... but so many people use SS fixings on aluminimum sheet and then wonder why the alu turns to dust!!!

BZP=Bright zink plated steel (rather than Stainless)

Holy cows. I'll go to sleep smarter tonight (albeit with some nightmare material too).
