This may be wise if using stainless bolts into aluminium parts :) It's what's used on boat masts to attached various metals to an aluminium tube :)

https://youtu.be/IT9726PfWXc I know this may be normal for all you Fez Heater owners, but I want to share the toasty warmth of my own VX tonight. First try of this prototype of a VX 220 heater. Outside temperature is 0'c, radiator fans locked running to keep engine temp down at a steady 80'c. Output shown is from one of the windscreen dash vents. Impressive as it's drawing ice cold air and no front clam is fitted so the unsealed heater box and hoses are also exposed. I had to open the fecking windows before I passed out! :)

I should justify the temperature as the max I could get out of it by running on the lowest fan speed and only through the window vents. I'd expect around the 36 point with all the vents open.

Didn't the 340R have a heated screen, and didn't someone fit one to their VX?

I've been off work a couple of days so got a some good runs round the coast to try this heater out, in simple terms it's like having a real car heater....toasty. It's obviously based on one of the T7Design range of heaters. I've got my heater, so I'm happy and don't need one :) but if there is an appetite for a new off the shelf VX heater please speak up. I do not know the pricing yet but you can check out the similar 5KW Midi Heater at www.T7Design.co.uk Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

If you need a CAD guy to draught parts drawings, holla at me!

This VX heater actually already exists, I was sent the Cad dwgs before I started.

T7Design were already working on a LHD Speedster model based on their Midi-Heater but it was a loooong way off. To get things moving (and selfishly to get me a heater right now) T7 agreed to sell me the midi based prototype, with 3d printed parts and in return I worked out the simplest installation I could, making some small components, testing the results and sending back pictures, measurements and the like.

Once the pain of getting the old heater out is over, I'm thinking anyone could fit this in an hour, it is pleasingly precision machined and the components used, like the powerful compact Spal twin fan, are well considered and very efficient IMHO, the temperature knob turns freely with full travel in each direction and most importantly it blows and heats.....lots. The only thing to be resolved is that the heater valve works in opposition to the knob position.

The finished unit may be anodized silver or black, with bespoke fixings for the VX and options such as a larger heater core for speedsters in colder climates, an integral filter is also being looked at.

Pictures below are of the prototype, so bear in mind its not anodised and some of the components I have made would not be up to a T7design production finish.

Aaaaaah so that's why I stopped hearing from Adam then... he was subcontracting to you ! I'm glad to see the linear bypass control valve being used. It still relies on a bowden cable though, I wanted to throw a waterproof servomotor in there instead. No need for me then !  Do you have the overcall BOM/cost, out of curiosity ?
