done back to back tests with standard vxt box and paper filter and the apexi had worse mass air flow sensor readings

running the biggest k+n made a huge difference in flow and noise , it was the harsh noise which was damaging hearing on long trips

Sadly it's true.....
Carsten (German guy who did sell his stage 5.5 turbo recently) had 0.4 bar less boost with a Apexi filter. He also went for the big K&N type.

text:

Loads of testing on the road and rr, yet to be bettered 😉

Ahhhem...! JK, I know my system is obtuse and not to everyones taste!

Hi Simon, it is really worth paying attention to the flow rate (i.e. pressure drop across the filter), as there is a good deal of gains to be had on a car like yours by ensuring a minimal vacuum. I played around with a couple of filters and then made my own and got about 60 HP extra. Others on high powered cars have had similar stories, Carsten above being one (so that huge filter that he used is a good bet).

There are further gains to be had but at sacrifice of oem looks / practicability I would be interested to test your setup on same rr no map change etc Nev but it's a lot of pain and prob never happen realistically DG
