Bit unfair to compare Monos to NTR IMO, Monos are £1000, NTR is almost £1500.

I've ordered the Monos assuming a rebuild costs £100 or so, that gives me 5 rounds of failures before the prices match :)

Adjustable nitrons are more like £2500.

Potential false economy. What about when your monos fail and your trackday at Spa is ruined ?

At that point I'd be wishing I'd spent the extra !

Having said that the Monos do seem to be quite reliable.

There have also been plenty of Nitron failures over the years.

People on here always conveniently forget that, it lets them justify to themselves why they spent an extra £xxx when they didn't need to :)

I was put off for ages by people slagging off Gaz (the older ones), but I couldn't find much info on the newer Monos. They are fitted to plenty of the winning cars in the Elise Trophy so they must be doing something right...

Main problem with Gaz was on the original Gaz golds where two dissimilar materials were reacting and splitting. The Monos were a different construction so no such problems. Since the recall there have been much fewer problems. I don't think there has been a suspension manufacturer that supplies the VX that hasn't had some issues.

I originally had GGP's and to be fair they were OK. A bit noisy but better than my worn oem shocks. I found the service from Gaz great. They did feel a little harsh but not entirely unexpected. I switched to the nitrons, yes massive step up so not comparable, and they are much better. Less harsh but still controlling, quiet etc. Service from Nitron is just as good. Ultimately I suspect it's all down to what you spend. Expensive shocks are better because you pay for it. Comparing two similar priced shocks is likely to be inconclusive and a matter of opinion. I believe both brands have their issues. Have a read and choose one that your happy with the general opinion and that fits your budget.

my monos have squeaks on the rear, I'm going to send them back to gaz for repair and possibly lower the spring rates a bit to have more of pleasant ride. I was going to buy the NTR 46ml but the monos came up at a good price...
