I have a graph which I cant paste in here that shows nearly half of the vehicles stolen in the East Midlands were Fords. Most of them were STs and RS models... Its a great shame as the RS really is a terrific car. Shame they will not do a 3 door too...

I have owned a new shape Astra VXR for almost three years, lovely car. It does have all the goodies though - full heated leather, Sat Nav, 340bhp, etc

Probably demographics? https://inews.co.uk/...ns-stolen-cars/ All have keyless entry and not a Ford amongst them

first cat delete, Courtenay induction kit and a remap

Obviously all rolling road figures are an estimate of power, some cars have less and others have more with the same mods

Yeah that's pretty decent though for minor modifications. I think that power level is the limit of the standard K04 turbo (from what I've heard).

had a ride in one, epicly fast but didn't really feel it. Had to properly boot the arse off it for the same thrill as a vx, at which point he was way beyond license losing territory.

the intercooler, clutch and exhaust would also need upgrading to pass 340bhp

65bhp for £1k is not too bad :D

Been quite a few reported globally with head gasket failure, ford have replaced engines which inturn have then failed with the same fault . Ford are apparently working on the fix but nothing yet confirmed. Theres a lot of worried owners out there and also worried about the impact on future values due to the fault.

Welcome all RS owners to the MG K-Series club

One of my cousins owns one. I have hooned it on the Evo Triangle and must say its an absolute blast. even though its 4wd it was still a hell of a lot of fun. Having driven all my cars and a few others over the Triangle this was probably the most capable.

Bad points-

Front end stone chips like hell. white plastics under the black grilles which chips easily due to the flat front end. looks like a teenage with acne after the first trip on the motorway.

Head Gasket Failures as mentioned above

General styling a little bit meh(although personal taste dictates this) interior does not feel as solid as the germans and even the Astra VXR is better inside(again personal taste dictates)

They are depreciating badly when compared to the mk 2. also they seem to be bringing new special editions out which i think will dilute the prices of the 'standard' cars even further. an RS edition is coming and a Red Edition. no doubt they will bring out a final run car too when the time comes.

I don't think i would own one but thats because of the styling. It would probably destroy most things on a british back road though. Ford are doing 0% finance on them which is a bonus, but they are also doing it on the Mustang and i know which one of the two i would go for.

No Golf R or Audis on that list surprised me after all the forum chatter going around. If you think about it though, years back a luxury car would have extra security like immobilises, deadlocks and trackers etc so scallywags would target small hatches they could open and start with penknives. Right now an M3 is just as easy/hard to steal as a Fiesta so why wouldn't they target the nicer stuff.

I found this interesting article in regards the head gasket issue. Quite informative in my opinion. http://www.roadandtr...-gasket-issues/

I owned one of the first ones delivered in 2016....for 10 days.

They are a very quick and capable car, pretty much what you would expect from a 345 bhp hatch.  Although they are quick they do not feel that quick in the driver's seat,in my opinion, the power delivery is very linear compared to my old EVO 6 and my mates MK2 Focus RS. Lacking in character is probably the best way to describe one.

Although i only had mine 10 days and hadnt even ran it in, i did give Opington Fords demo a major work out on the pre pdi inspection of mine.  My brother-in-law now has a 2017 RS as a company car (gets some raised eybrows when he turns up for site meetings lol), so have alot of experience of them riding as a passenger.   Track mode is harsh for uk roads and suspension can be quite 'bouncy' at times in sport mode.  Lauch mode is awesome.  Now its run in my Brother in law's car can return 36 mpg making this car a great allrounder in my opinion, so for a daily driver would be great choice.

To be safe i think you'd need to go for a june 2017 onwards from what i understand to avoid the engine issues.

It is true the values have dropped significantly but this is mainly on the 2016 models due to the engine issues and doubts over their reliability, but they are under warranty so maybe a standard one with the 5 year ford warranty might not a bad option. I still think compared to its competitors the residuals still compare well and I think the values will plateau soon, with the new Focus due out they will be discontinued soon, i dont think the special editions will affect the prices further but they will hold their value the best.

Does anyone have any real world experience of the new Focus RS?

The first gen were ok, the second gen were beasts, the third gen are dropping like flies    at least ford have now recognised the HGF as a real problem and I believe they have re-called
