is that some pitting on the crank surfaces?

Its just really light surface rust, will all come of when the crank journals get polished the same time as the assembly is balanced

Valve spring kit .......although the Ti retainers are missing  :angry2:

Do keep an eye on these when the engine has been running a while.

Seen a few engines with Ti retainers where they started galling/fretting between the spring and the retainer and sometimes on the keepers too causing them to wear down and thin out in areas.

No clue why it happens sometimes (probably some resonance thing) but it's usually fairly easy to spot if you take some photos of the 'fresh install' and then check them after a few thousand miles. If they show no signs of wear by that time you should be fine indefinitely.

Bye, Arno.

8” GARW dash fitted tonight along with the additional finishing supports to the sideskirts. Apart from putting some base settings in the dash I think we’re ready for cadwell :)

I would be interested to see how you fitted the 8" Garw, I offered mine up then it ended up back in the box due too a serious lack of ideas!

you only get them with double valve spring kits, use OEM retainers with single valve springs

I've not gone for the supertech springs this time Vocky as i've heard of some failures. I'm trying the OTTP 80lbs spring kit which does come with Ti retainers. They were just missed out of the box. They've now been shipped and should be with me monday at the latest.

Bye, Arno.

Hi Arno,

Yes we see this quite often in our Hayabusa engines as well which run the titanium retainers in tuned applications. We normally get two seasons out of them before replacing them. Ideally I will run the 2.5 for this season and then pull it out over the winter to rebuild and inspect it.

Rods arrived today for the 2.5....

So the A beams went back as I order them by mistake. The new ‘unbreakable’ H-beams fitted with carrillos top spec bolts have arrived....

Component porn! Beautiful thing - shame to hide them inside an engine.
