Can anyone recommend any books or any other reading/reference material which will help the beginner understand the configurations and settings available within OBD tuner in relation to the 2.2 S/C. Ive recently come across this which incidentally fried my brain : https://www.speedste...entatie/csi.pdf Last thing I tuned was a 1380 A series, with points and a single SU on work experience c30 years ago! I probably need start at the beginning ie NA engines, certainly the lack of crank sensor etc, is completely new to me, but I also want to try to understand better the effects of ignition timing, fuelling, AFR, MAP and how adjustments to each effect one another and how to better interpret the results from learning using OBD tuner. Thanks! PS. Anyone got any VXR injectors, getting 100% @5700 rpm on the turbo ones currently fitted.

To start of with foxy Just follow the obdtuner instructions in full The understanding quickly follows Standard turbo injectors are a waste of time and even the green lsj injectors are are probably going to run out at a lower rpm that you want But most importantly hardware has to be 100% done and capable before you can consider to start mapping processes I did speak with mark after your recent blyton track days it does sound like a issue with fueling And if your on black turbo injectors that would be a good place to start ideally blue vxr injectors like you suggested.

I would also consider looking at the fuel rail/pressure as if it's been mapped using black injectors it may of had a "modified " fuel pressure upgrade

Blue also means connector conversion.

Yes very true, good shout Stefan Might be worth getting some green lsj ones to start off with and lower rpm limit to 6700 just to try and solve issues I bet batman Joe has a set you could borrow

What engine configuration?

The black Z20LET ones should be able to run a basic Z22SE-SC till 6800rpm with a flat 0.8AFR (~250HP), but not much more. The green LSJ's go a bit further in power/rpm.

I never been able to map a car past 6600 on standard turbo injectors and keeping the duty cycle below 90% and ideally you want a duty cycle of 80-85 % max

With blacks on 100% duty@5700, the fuelpump may be on it´s last legs.

Not sure how much the blues would help then.

Hi Chaps,

Appreciate your help!

I would also consider looking at the fuel rail/pressure as if it's been mapped using black injectors it may of had a "modified " fuel pressure upgrade

Currently running a base map provided by Peter with a couple of fuel learns carried out on it.

How would I go about checking the rail pressure?  By hooking a gauge up to the Schrader valve in the supply pipes?  Once primed would that at the correct running pressure?

I thought the rail pressure was regulated by the diaphragm on the gearbox end, is it easy to check if its been modified in the past?

Are you about at the weekend for a chat, so I can pick your brains?

I have currently set the rpm limit to 6500rpm trying to be slightly more mechanically sympathetic!

With blacks on 100% duty@5700, the fuelpump may be on it´s last legs.

Not sure how much the blues would help then.

Running a Spitfire fuel pump, but were are having issues with that we think - fuel starvation on left handers.  Gaz has very kindly sent out a new one to fit.  Hopefully that eliminates the pump.

I'm told that this should be more than man enough for the current setup.  I'm going to inspect the old and fit the new pump this afternoon so will see how I get on!

Which of the options is the duty cycle? It' not called that is it as I couldn't see it.

86% duty cycle is coming in at 5000 RPM

so if all your lambda sensors were fully working when you did the fuel learn i would say your injectors are the first thing to uprate

5800 is 100% duty cycle but anything over 90% duty cycle basically leaves the injector fully open all the time

this why you need to aim for around 80% duty cycle and this should give enough scope for when the ecu calls for more fuel with inlet temps etc

good lad man after my own heart

you should also check for exhaust leaks or cracked exhaust, your inlet temps in the logs are fine
